Jeremiah52

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and the name of his mother was Hamutal, daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah.

And he made the evil in the eyes of Yahweh, as all which Jehoiakim made.

For because of the anger of Yahweh it happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he cast them out from his face; and Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

And it happened in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and they encamped against it and they built a siege-wall against it all around.

And the city came under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine grew strong in the city, and there was no food for the people of the land.

And the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled and went out from the city by night, by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the garden of the king, while the Chaldeans were against the city all around; and they went the way of the Arabah.

And the army of the Chaldeans ran after the king, and they overtook Zedekiah in the desert plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him.

And they seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he pronounced justices on him.

And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also all the officials of Judah he slaughtered at Riblah.

And he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with bronze fetters; and the king of Babylon brought him to Babylon and put him in the house of oversight until the day of his death.

And in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month — it was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon — Nebuzaradan, the great one of the butchers, who stood before the face of the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.

And he burned the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem; and every great house he burned with fire.

And all the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the great one of the butchers, pulled down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.

And Nebuzaradan, the great one of the butchers, took into exile some of the poor of the people, and the rest of the people who were left in the city, and those who had fallen away to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen.

And Nebuzaradan, the great one of the butchers, left behind some of the poor of the land as vinedressers and as ploughmen.

And the Chaldeans broke in pieces the pillars of bronze, which belonged to the house of Yahweh, and the stands, and the sea of bronze, which was in the house of Yahweh, and carried off all their bronze to Babylon.

And they took away the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the hollow dishes, and all the articles of bronze with which they served.

And the great one of the butchers took away the basins, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the pots, and the lampstands, and the hollow dishes, and the sacrificial bowls — whatever was gold, gold, and whatever was silver, silver.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve oxen of bronze that were under the stands, which King Solomon had made for the house of Yahweh — the bronze of all these articles was beyond weighing.

And as for the pillars: the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a cord of twelve cubits would circle it, and its thickness was four fingers, hollow.

And a capital of bronze was upon it, and the height of the one capital was five cubits, with a network and pomegranates upon the capital all around, all of it bronze; and the second pillar was like these, with pomegranates.

And there were ninety-six pomegranates facing the breath; all the pomegranates were a hundred upon the network all around.

And the great one of the butchers took Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold.

And from the city he took one official, which was overseer over the men of war, and seven men from those who saw the face of the king, which were found in the city, and the scribe of the officials of the host that wars the people of the land, and sixty man from the people of the land those who were found in the middle of the city.

And Nebuzaradan, the great one of the butchers, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.

And the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and Judah went into exile from off its ground.

This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar took into exile: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews.

In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, from Jerusalem, eight hundred and thirty-two living beings.

In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan, the great one of the butchers, took into exile seven hundred and forty-five living beings of the Jews; all the living beings were four thousand and six hundred.

And it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth of the month, that Evil-Merodach, king of Babylon, in the year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, and brought him out of the prison house.

And he spoke good things with him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon.

And he changed his prison garments, and he ate food in his presence continually all the days of his life.

And his allowance, a continual allowance was given to him by the king of Babylon, the word of each day in its day, until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
