Jeremiah47

The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.

Thus says Yahweh: Look, waters are rising from the north, and they will become a wadi, overflowing, and they will rinse the land and its fullness, the city and those who dwell in it; and people will cry out, and every one who dwells in the land will wail.

From the sound of the stamping of the hooves of his mighty ones, from the shaking of his chariotry, the roar of his wheels, fathers did not turn back to their children, from the slackness of hands.

On the day that is coming to devastate all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and from Sidon every surviving helper; for Yahweh is about to devastate the Philistines, the remnant of the coastlands of Caphtor.

Baldness has come to Gaza; Ashkelon has been cut off, O remnant of their valley. How long will you gash yourself?

Alas, sword of Yahweh, how long will you not be quiet? Gather yourself into your sheath, settle, and be still.

How can you be quiet, when Yahweh has commanded it? Against Ashkelon and against the coast of the sea, there he has appointed it.
