Jeremiah43

And it happened, when Jeremiah finished speaking to all the people all the words of Yahweh their God, with which Yahweh their God had sent him to them—all these words—

Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, "You are speaking falsehood! Yahweh our God has not sent you to say, 'You shall not come to Egypt to sojourn there.'"

For Baruch son of Neriah is inciting you against us, in order to give us into the hand of the Chaldeans, to put us to death and to carry us into exile in Babylon.

But Johanan son of Kareah, and all the officials of the armies, and all the people did not listen to the voice of Yahweh, to dwell in the land of Judah.

And Johanan son of Kareah and all the officials of the armies took all the remnant of Judah, who had returned from all the nations where they had been banished, to sojourn in the land of Judah:

the men, the women, the children, the daughters of the king, and every living being whom Nebuzaradan the chief of the butchers had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch son of Neriah;

And they came into the land of Egypt, for they did not listen to the voice of Yahweh; and they came as far as Tahpanhes.

And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

Take large stones in your hand and hide them in the mortar, in the brick quadrangle which is at the entrance of the house of Pharaoh in Tahpanhes, before the eyes of the men, the Jews,

And you shall say to them, Like this says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am sending, and I will fetch Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, my slave; and I will set his throne above these stones that I have hidden, and he will pitch his bright-colored pavilion over them.

And he will come and strike the land of Egypt: those for death, to death; and those for captivity, to captivity; and those for the sword, to the sword.

And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and he will burn them and take them captive; and he will wrap himself in the land of Egypt as the shepherd wraps himself in his garment, and he will go out from there in wholeness.

And he will break the pillars of Beth-shemesh, which is in the land of Egypt, and the houses of the gods of Egypt he will burn with fire.
