¹And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still restrained in the court of the guard, saying:

²Like this Yahweh said, who made it; Yahweh, who formed it to establish it; Yahweh is his name:

³Call to me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great things and fortified things that you have not known.

⁴For like this Yahweh has said, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, those that are pulled down because of the siege mounds and because of the sword,

⁵They are coming to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the corpses of the people whom I struck down in my anger and in my burning rage, and because I hid my face from this city on account of all their evil.

⁶Behold, I am bringing up to it healing and cure, and I will heal them, and I will uncover to them an abundance of wholeness and stability.

⁷And I will restore the prosperity of Judah and the prosperity of Israel, and I will build them as at the first.

⁸And I will cleanse them from all their guilt that they have sinned against me, and I will forgive all their guilt that they have sinned against me, and that they have rebelled against me.

⁹And it will be to me a name of joy, a praise and a splendor, to all the nations of the land who will hear all the good that I am doing for them; and they will be in awe and tremble over all the good and over all the wholeness that I am doing for it.

¹⁰Like this Yahweh has said: Again there will be heard in this place, of which you are saying, "It is parched, without human being and without livestock," in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that lie desolate, without human being, and without dweller, and without livestock,

¹¹The sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the sound of the bridegroom and the sound of the bride, the sound of those who say, "Give thanks to Yahweh of hosts, for Yahweh is good, for his loyal love is forever," of those who bring a thank offering to the house of Yahweh; for I will turn back the captivity of the land as at the first, says Yahweh.

¹²Like this Yahweh of hosts has said: Again there will be in this place, which is parched, without human being, even down to livestock, and in all its cities, a dwelling of shepherds who make flocks lie down.

¹³In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negev, and in the land of Benjamin, and round about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flock will again pass by the hands of the one who counts, Yahweh has said.

¹⁴Behold, days are coming, the utterance of Yahweh, and I will cause to stand the good word that I have spoken to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

¹⁵In those days and at that time I will cause a sprout of righteousness to sprout for David, and he will do justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁶In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell in security; and this is what one will call her: Yahweh is our righteousness.

¹⁷For like this Yahweh has said: A man will not be cut off from David, one sitting on the throne of the house of Israel,

¹⁸And for the priests, the Levites, a man will not be cut off from before my face, one offering up a burnt offering, and making smoke of a grain offering, and making sacrifice all the days.

¹⁹And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying:

²⁰Like this Yahweh has said: If you can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that day and night will not be at their time,

²¹Then also my covenant can be broken with David my slave, so that he will not have a son reigning on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, who serve me.

²²As the host of the skies will not be counted and the sand of the sea will not be measured, so I will multiply the seed of David my slave, and the Levites who serve me.

²³And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying:

²⁴Have you not seen what this people spoke, saying: “The two families that Yahweh chose, those he has rejected”? And they scorn my people, so that they are no longer a nation before them.

²⁵This is how Yahweh said: If not my covenant of day and night, if I have not set the statutes of the skies and land,

²⁶then also the seed of Jacob and of David my servant I will reject, so as not to take rulers from his seed over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will bring back their captives, and I will have compassion on them.
