The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:
Like this Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: Write for yourself in a scroll all the words that I have spoken to you.
For look, days are coming, the utterance of Yahweh, when I will turn back the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, Yahweh says, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they will take possession of it.
And these are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.
For like this Yahweh says: We have heard a sound of trembling, dread, and there is no wholeness.
Ask now, and see whether a male is giving birth. Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins like a woman giving birth, and all faces turned to paleness?
Alas! For great is that day, there is none like it; and it is a time of distress for Jacob, but out of it he will be saved.
And on that day, the utterance of Yahweh of hosts, I will break his yoke from off your neck, and your fetters I will tear apart, and foreigners will not again put him to work.
And they will serve Yahweh their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.
And you, do not fear, my servant Jacob, the utterance of Yahweh, and do not be dismayed, O Israel; for look, I am about to save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob will return and rest and be at ease, with none to terrify.
For I am with you, the utterance of Yahweh, to save you; for I will make a complete end among all the nations where I scattered you there, but only you I will not make a complete end of; I will discipline you in justice, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.
For like this Yahweh says: Your fracture is incurable, your wound is severe.
There is no one to plead your case, for the sore; there are no medicines, no bandage, for you.
All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have struck you with the blow of an enemy, the discipline of a cruel one, because of the multitude of your guilt, because your sins are numerous.
Why do you cry out over your fracture? Your pain is incurable. Because of the multitude of your guilt, because your sins are numerous, I have done these things to you.
Therefore all who eat you will be eaten, and all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity; those who plunder you will become plunder; and all who despoil you I will give to be spoil.
For I will bring up healing for you, and from your wounds I will heal you, the utterance of Yahweh; for they have called you an outcast: she is Zion, no one seeks her.
Like this Yahweh says: Look, I am about to turn back the captivity of the tents of Jacob, and I will have compassion on his dwelling places; and a city will be rebuilt on its mound, and a palace will dwell according to its justice.
And thanksgiving will go out from them, and the sound of those who laugh; and I will multiply them, and they will not become few; and I will honor them, and they will not diminish.
And his children will be as of old, and his assembly will be established before me, and I will visit punishment on all who oppress him.
And his mighty one will be from him, and his ruler will go forth from his midst; and I will bring him near, and he will draw near to me. For who is this who has pledged his heart to draw near to me? the utterance of Yahweh.
And you will become a people to me, and I will be God to you.
Look, the storm of Yahweh, rage has gone out, a storm sweeping along; it will whirl upon the head of the wicked.
The burning anger of Yahweh will not turn back until he has done it, and until he has set up the purposes of his heart. In the end of the days you will understand it.
