Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the flock of my pasture, the utterance of Yahweh.
Therefore, like this Yahweh the God of Israel said concerning the shepherds who shepherd my people: You scattered my flock and banished them, and you did not attend to them. Behold, I am about to visit on you the evil of your deeds, the utterance of Yahweh.
And I myself will gather together the remnant of my flock from all the lands where I banished them, and I will bring them back to their dwelling, and they will be fruitful and multiply.
And I will raise up shepherds over them and they will shepherd them, and they will not fear any more, nor be dismayed, nor will any be missing, the utterance of Yahweh.
Behold, days are coming, the utterance of Yahweh, when I will raise up for David a righteous stalk, and he will reign as king and act wisely, and do justice and righteousness in the land.
In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell in security, and this is his name that they will call him: Yahweh is our righteousness.
Therefore, behold, days are coming, the utterance of Yahweh, when they will not say again, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,
but, As Yahweh lives, who brought up and who brought the seed of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where I banished them, and they will dwell on their own ground.
To the prophets: My heart is broken in my midst, all my bones have gone slack; I have become like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine has passed over, from the face of Yahweh and from the face of his holy words.
For the land is full of adulterers; for from the face of the curse the land mourns, the pastures of the wilderness have dried up. Their running has become evil, and their might is not right.
For both prophet and priest are defiled; even in my house I have found their evil, the utterance of Yahweh.
Therefore their way will be to them like slippery places in the darkness; they will be pushed down and fall in it. For I will bring disaster upon them, the year of their punishment, the utterance of Yahweh.
And among the prophets of Samaria I saw something unseemly: they prophesied by Baal and made my people Israel wander about.
And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: committing adultery and walking in falsehood, and they have strengthened the hands of evildoers, so that no one has turned away from his evil. They have all become to me like Sodom, and its dwellers like Gomorrah.
Therefore, like this Yahweh of hosts said concerning the prophets: Behold, I am about to feed them wormwood and give them the water of poison to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem godlessness has gone out to all the land.
Like this Yahweh of hosts said: Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you; they are filling you with vain hopes. They speak the vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of Yahweh.
They keep saying to those who despise me, Yahweh has spoken: Wholeness will be yours. And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, Disaster will not come upon you.
For who has stood in the council of Yahweh, so that he may see and hear his word? Who has paid attention to his word and listened?
Behold, the whirlwind of Yahweh, anger, has gone out, and a storm whirling; upon the head of the wicked it will whirl.
The anger of Yahweh will not turn back until he has done it and until he has made the purposes of his heart stand; in the latter end of the days you will discern it with understanding.
I did not send the prophets, yet they ran; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied.
But if they had stood in my council, they would have made my people hear my words and turned them back from their evil way and from the evil of their deeds.
Am I a God from near, the utterance of Yahweh, and not a God from afar?
Can a man hide himself in hiding places, and I not see him? the utterance of Yahweh. Do I not fill the skies and the land? the utterance of Yahweh.
I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy falsehood in my name, saying, I dreamed, I dreamed.
How long? Is it in the heart of the prophets who prophesy the falsehood, and the prophets of the treachery of their own heart,
Those who reckon to make my people forget my name by their dreams that each man recounts to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name for Baal?
The prophet who has a dream, let him recount the dream, and he who has my word, let him speak my word truly. What is the straw to the grain? the utterance of Yahweh.
Is my word not like this, like fire, the utterance of Yahweh, and like a hammer that shatters the crag?
Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, the utterance of Yahweh, who steal my words, each from his neighbor.
Behold, I am against the prophets, the utterance of Yahweh, who take their tongue and utter an utterance.
Behold, I am against those who prophesy dreams of falsehood, the utterance of Yahweh, and recount them, and make my people wander about with their falsehoods and with their recklessness, though I did not send them, nor did I command them; and they bring no profit at all to this people, the utterance of Yahweh.
And when this people asks you, or the prophet, or a priest, saying, What is the burden of Yahweh? you will say to them, What burden? I will abandon you, the utterance of Yahweh.
As for the prophet and the priest and the people who say, The burden of Yahweh, I will visit punishment upon that man and upon his house.
Thus you will say, each to his neighbor, and each to his brother: What has Yahweh answered? And what has Yahweh spoken?
And the burden of Yahweh you will not remember any more, for the burden will be each man's own word, and you overturn the words of the living God, Yahweh of hosts, our God.
Thus you will say to the prophet: What has Yahweh answered you? And what has Yahweh spoken?
But if you say, The burden of Yahweh, therefore thus says Yahweh: Because you say this word, The burden of Yahweh, and I sent to you, saying, You shall not say, The burden of Yahweh,
Therefore, behold, I will forget you, lifting you up, and I will abandon you and the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, away from my face.
And I will put upon you a reproach forever and a shame forever that will not be forgotten.
