Jeremiah11

The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:

Hear the words of this covenant, and speak them to the men of Judah and to those who dwell in Jerusalem.

Say to them: This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: Cursed is the man who does not hear the words of this covenant,

that I commanded your fathers on the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the furnace of iron, saying: Listen to my voice and do them, according to all that I command you; and you shall be a people to me, and I will be God to you,

so that I may establish the oath that I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as on this day. And I answered and said: Truly, Yahweh.

And Yahweh said to me: Call out all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.

For I solemnly warned your fathers on the day I brought them up from the land of Egypt, and until this day, rising early and warning, saying: Listen to my voice.

And they did not listen, and did not incline their ear, but each one walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart; and I brought on them all the words of this covenant that I commanded them to do, and they did not do them.

And Yahweh said to me: A conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among those who dwell in Jerusalem.

They have turned back to the guilt of their fathers, the former ones, who refused to hear my words; and they have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant that I cut with their fathers.

Therefore this is what Yahweh says: Look, I am bringing on them a disaster that they will not be able to come out of it; and they will cry out to me, and I will not listen to them.

And the cities of Judah and those who dwell in Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they make smoke, but they will surely not save them in the time of their disaster.

For your gods have been as many as your cities, O Judah; and you have set up altars to the shameful thing as many as the streets of Jerusalem, altars for making smoke to the Baal.

And you, do not pray on behalf of this people, and do not lift up on their behalf a ringing cry or a prayer; for I am not listening at the time they call to me about their disaster.

What has my beloved in my house, as she carries out the scheme of the many? Will holy flesh pass away from you? When your evil is done, then you exult.

A leafy olive tree, beautiful in fruit and form, Yahweh called your name; at the sound of a great roar he has kindled a fire on it, and its branches are spoiled.

And Yahweh of hosts, who planted you has spoken disaster against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and the house of Judah, which they did to themselves, provoking me to anger by making smoke to the Baal.

And Yahweh made me know, and I knew; then you showed me their deeds.

But I was like a tame lamb led to slaughter, and I did not know that against me they reckoned schemes: Let us ruin the tree with its food, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, and his name will not be remembered any more.

But O Yahweh of hosts, who judges righteousness, who tests the kidneys and the heart: let me see your vengeance on them, for to you I have uncovered my dispute.

Therefore this is what Yahweh says about the men of Anathoth who are seeking your being, saying: You must not prophesy in the name of Yahweh, so you will not die by our hand.

Therefore this is what Yahweh of hosts says: Look, I am about to visit upon them: the young men will die by the sword; their sons and their daughters will die by famine.

And there will be no remnant for them, for I will bring disaster upon the men of Anathoth, the year of their visitation.
