After some days, in the days of the wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat of the she-goats, and he said, "Come to my wife, to the inner chamber." But her father would not set him to go in.
Her father said, "Surely I said you hated her, so I set her to your personal one. Is not her younger sister better than her? Let her be yours under of her."
Samson said to them, "This time I am left unpunished from the Philistines when I do them evil."
Samson went and captured three hundred foxes, and he took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put one torch between the two tails in the middle.
He purged fire in the torches and sent them into the standing grain of the Philistines, and purged from the stack to the standing grain, and to the vineyard of the olive.
The Philistines said, "Who made this?" They said, "Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and set her to his personal one." So the Philistines came up and made her and her father a burning in the fire.
Samson said to them, "If you make as this, I will be avenged on you, and after that I will cease."
He struck them thigh over thigh, a great blow, and came down and dwelled in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
Then the Philistines came up and encamped in Judah, and let themselves fall upon Lehi.
The men of Judah said, "Why have you come up over us?" They said, "To yoke Samson we came up, to make to him as he made to us."
Then three thousand men came down from Judah to the cleft of the crag of Etam, and said to Samson, "Did you not know the Philistines ruled in us? What is this you made to us?" He said to them, "As they made to me, so I made to them."
They said to him, "To yoke you we came down, to set you in the hand of the Philistines." Samson said to them, "Swear to me that you will not press on me yourselves."
They said to him, saying, "No, surely we will only yoke you and set you in their hand, but surely we will not put you to death." So they yoked him with two new cords and brought him up from the crag.
He came to Lehi, and the Philistines blew an alarm to encounter him. Then the breath of Yahweh rushed over him, and the cords which were over his arm were as linens which are burned in the fire, and his bonds dissolved from over his hands.
He found a fresh cheekbone of a donkey, and stretched out his hand and took it, and struck a thousand men in it.
Samson said, "With the cheekbone of a donkey, heap on heap, with the cheekbone of a donkey I struck a thousand men."
It happened, as he completed speaking, that he threw the cheekbone from his hand, and called that place Ramath-Lehi.
He was exceedingly parched, and called to Yahweh and said, "You set this great victory in the hand of your slave, and now I will die in the thirst and fall in the hand of the uncircumcised."
So God burst open the hollow place which is in Lehi, and waters went forth from it. He drank, and his breath returned, and he lived. So he called its name En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.
He judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
