Judges11

And Jephthah the Gileadite was the mighty man of valor, and he was the son of a woman, a prostitute; and Gilead fathered Jephthah.

Gilead's woman bore young to him children, and the children became great; and the children of the woman drove Jephthah, and said to him: You will not inherit in the house of our father, for you are the son of another woman.

Jephthah fled from the face of his brother, and dwelled in the land of Tob; and empty men gathered to Jephthah, and went forth with him.

There was, from days, the children of Ammon fought with Israel.

It happened, as the children of Ammon fought with Israel, the elder of Gilead went to take Jephthah from the land of Tob.

They said to Jephthah: Go, was to us to the commander, and fight in the children of Ammon.

Jephthah said to the elder of Gilead: Did you not hate me, and drive me from the house of my father? And why have you came to me now as enemy to you?

The elder of Gilead said to Jephthah: To the so now we returned to you; go with us and fight in the children of Ammon, and was to us to the head to all dwelled in Gilead.

Jephthah said to the elder of Gilead: If you return me to fight in the children of Ammon and Yahweh set them to my face, I will be to you to the head.

The elder of Gilead said to Jephthah: Yahweh will be heard between us, if not as your word so we will make.

Jephthah went with the elder of Gilead, and the people put him over them to the head and to the commander; and Jephthah spoke all his words to the face of Yahweh in Mizpah.

Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying: What to me and to you, that you came to me to fight in my land?

The king of the children of Ammon said to the messenger of Jephthah: Israel took my land in come up it from Egypt, from Arnon and in the Jabbok and in the Jordan; and now return them in the wholeness.

Jephthah repeated again, and sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon.

Like this said to him Jephthah: Israel took not the land of Moab and the land of the children of Ammon.

In their come up from Egypt, Israel went in the wilderness, in the sea of the among, and came to Kadesh.

Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying: Let me pass over in your land; and Edom willing not. And also Israel sent to the king of Moab, and he heard not; and Israel dwelled in Kadesh.

He went in the wilderness, and went partly round the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and came from the east side of the sun to the land of Moab, and encamped in the side of Arnon; and did not went in the boundary of Moab, for Arnon is the boundary of Moab.

Israel sent messengers to Sihon the king of the Amorite, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him: Let me pass over in your land, in my place.

And Sihon believed not Israel to pass over in his boundary; and Sihon gathered all his people, and encamped in Jahaz, and fought with Israel.

Yahweh the God of Israel set Sihon and all his people in the hand of Israel, and they struck them; and Israel occupied all the land of the Amorite, the dwelled of the land, the she.

They occupied all the boundary of the Amorite, from Arnon and in the Jabbok, and from the wilderness and in the Jordan.

And now Yahweh the God of Israel occupied the Amorite from the face of his people Israel; and you will occupy it?

Will you not occupy that which Chemosh your God occupies you? And all which Yahweh our God occupied from our face, it we will occupy.

And now, are you good, it was good, from Balak the son of Zippor the king of Moab? Surely he contended with Israel, surely he fought in them?

In Israel's dwell in Heshbon and in her daughter, and in Aroer and in her daughter, and in all the cities which are over the hands of Arnon, three hundred years — and why did you not deliver in that time?

And I, I sinned not to you, and you made with me evil to fight in me; Yahweh that judges will judge this day between the children of Israel and between the children of Ammon.

And the king of the children of Ammon heard not to the word of Jephthah which sent to him.

There was over Jephthah the breath of Yahweh, and he passed over the Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead passed over to the children of Ammon.

Jephthah vowed a vow to Yahweh, and he said: Surely if you will set the children of Ammon in my hand,

it was that goes forth which my house will go forth from the door to encounter me in my return in the wholeness from the children of Ammon, was to Yahweh, and I will bring up it a burnt offering.

Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight in them; and Yahweh set them in his hand.

He struck them down from Aroer to the approach of Minnith, twenty cities, and as far as Abel-keramim, a very great blow; and the sons of Ammon were humbled before the sons of Israel.

Jephthah came to the Mizpah to his house, and his daughter went forth to encounter it in tambourines and in dancings; and only she is only child, there is no to him from him son and or daughter.

It happened, as he saw it, he tore his garments, and said: My daughter, surely you crouched me, and you was in those who trouble me; and I opened my mouth to Yahweh, and I cannot return.

She said to him: My father, you opened your mouth to Yahweh; make to me as went forth from your mouth, after that which Yahweh made vengeances to you from your enemies, from the children of Ammon.

She said to her father: The word will make to me; let go from me two months, and I came down over the mountains, and I will weep over my virginity, I and my companion.

He said: Go. And he sent it the two months; and she and her companion went, and wept over her virginity over the mountains.

There was, from the after of the two months, she returned to her father, and he made to it his vow which vowed; and she knew not man. There was an allotment in Israel:

From days the daughter of Israel will go to lament to the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in the year.
