Isaiah9

But there is no gloom for her who was in distress. As at the first time he treated with contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, so the latter time he has honored the way of the sea, the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

The people walking in the darkness have seen a great light; those who dwell in the land of deep darkness, light has shone over them.

You multiplied the nation; for it you made great the gladness. They rejoiced before your face like the gladness at the harvest, as people are glad when they divide plunder.

For the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of the one who drives him, you have shattered as on the day of Midian.

For every boot of the one who tramps in the shaking, and cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for fire.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; and the dominion is on his shoulder. And his name is called Wonder, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of wholeness.

Of the increase of the government and of wholeness there is no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness, from now and forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.

The Lord sent a word against Jacob, and it fell on Israel.

And they will know, all the people, Ephraim and those who dwelled in Samaria, in pride and in greatness of heart, saying:

Bricks have fallen, but we will rebuild with hewn stone; sycamores have been cut down, but we will change them for cedars.

So Yahweh set on high the opponents of Rezin against him, and his enemies he hedged in.

Aram from the east and the Philistines from behind, and they devoured Israel with the whole mouth. For all this his anger has not turned back, and his hand is still stretched out.

And the people did not turn back to the one who struck them, and Yahweh of hosts they did not seek.

So Yahweh cut off from Israel head and tail, palm frond and rush, in one day.

The elder, the one lifted up in face, he is the head; and the prophet who teaches falsehood, he is the tail.

The leaders of this people were causing it to wander about, and those led by them were swallowed down.

Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over its young men, and will have no compassion for its fatherless and its widows; for all of them are godless and do evil, and every mouth speaks outrage. For all this his anger has not turned back, and still his hand is stretched out.

For wickedness has burned like fire; thorn and brier it eats. It kindles the thickets of the forest, and they swirl up, a lifting up of smoke.

By the wrath of Yahweh of hosts the land is scorched, and the people became like fuel for a fire; a man will not spare his brother.

He cut off on the right side, yet was hungry; he ate on the left side, yet they were not satisfied; each man eats the flesh of his own arm.

Manasseh eats Ephraim, and Ephraim eats Manasseh; together they are against Judah. For all this his anger has not turned back, and still his hand is stretched out.
