Thus Yahweh said: The skies are my throne, and the land is the footstool of my feet. Where is this house that you would build for me, and where is this place of my rest?
My hand made all these, and all these came to be, the utterance of Yahweh. And to this one I will look: to the poor and stricken in breath and trembling at my word.
The one who slaughters the ox is one who strikes down a man; the one who sacrifices the sheep, one who breaks the neck of a dog; the one who offers up a grain offering, the blood of a pig; the one who offers as a memorial frankincense, one who blesses iniquity. They also have chosen their own ways, and in their detestable things their being delights.
I also will choose their vexations, and I will bring their frights upon them, because I called and no one answered, I spoke and they did not hear; they did the evil in my eyes, and they chose what I did not delight in.
Hear the word of Yahweh, you who tremble at his word: Your brothers who hate you, who drive you away for the sake of my name, said, Let Yahweh be honored, that we may look on your gladness. But they will be put to shame.
A sound of uproar from the city, a sound from the temple, the sound of Yahweh repaying recompense to his enemies.
Before she writhed in labor, she bore; before her birth pangs came to her, she delivered a male.
Who has heard the like of this? Who has seen the like of these? Can a land be brought forth in one day? Or will a nation be born at one time? For Zion was in labor and also bore her sons.
Shall I bring to the birth and not cause to bear? Yahweh says. Or am I, the one who causes to bear, to hold back? says your God.
Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad in her, all you who love her; exult with her in delight, all you who mourn over her.
So that you may suckle and be satisfied from the breast of her consolations, so that you may drink and delight in the full breast of her weightiness.
For thus Yahweh said: See, I am about to extend wholeness to her like a river, and the weightiness of the nations like an overflowing torrent; and you will suckle; you will be carried on the side, and fondled on the knees.
As a man whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and in Jerusalem you will be comforted.
You will see, and your heart will exult, and your bones will sprout like the grass; and the hand of Yahweh will be made known with his servants, and he will be indignant at his enemies.
For look, Yahweh will come in fire, and his chariots like the storm-wind, to pay back his anger with burning rage and his rebuke with flames of fire.
For by fire Yahweh will enter into judgment, and by his sword with all flesh; and the slain of Yahweh will be many.
Those who set apart and purify themselves to the gardens, after one in the middle, those who eat the flesh of the pig, and the detestable thing, and the mouse, together they will come to an end, the utterance of Yahweh.
And I—their deeds and their thoughts—am coming to gather all the nations and the tongues; and they will come and see my weightiness.
I will set a sign among them and send refugees from them to the nations: Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, those who draw the bow, Tubal and Javan, the far-off coastlands that have not heard my report or seen my weightiness; and they will declare my weightiness among the nations.
They will bring all your brothers from all the nations as an offering to Yahweh, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain, Jerusalem, Yahweh said, just as the children of Israel bring the grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of Yahweh.
And also from them I will take for priests, for Levites, Yahweh said.
For just as the new skies and the new land, which I am about to make, stand before my face, the utterance of Yahweh, so your seed and your name will stand.
And it will be that new moon by new moon and sabbath by sabbath, all flesh will come to bow down before my face, Yahweh said.
And they will go out and look on the carcasses of the men who rebelled against me; for their worm will not die, and their fire will not be quenched, and they will be an abhorrence to all flesh.
