Isaiah64

Oh that you would tear the skies open and come down, so the mountains would quake before you,

As fire kindles brushwood, as fire makes water boil, to make your name known to your enemies, so that nations quake before you.

When you did awesome things that we did not look for, you came down; before you the mountains quaked.

And from forever they have not heard, they have not given ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for the one who waits for him.

You have met the one who rejoices and the one who does righteousness; in your ways they remember you. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned; in them forever, and might we be saved?

We have become like the unclean, all of us, and all our righteousness is like a garment of menstruation; we have withered like a leaf, all of us, and our guilt will carry us off like the wind.

There is no one who calls on your name, who rouses himself to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and melted us in the hand of our guilt.

And now, Yahweh, you are our father; we are the clay, and you are the one who formed us, and we are all the work of your hand.

Do not be angry, Yahweh, exceedingly, and do not remember guilt forever; behold, look, please: all of us are your people.

Your holy cities have become wilderness, Zion has become wilderness, Jerusalem a wasteland.

Our holy house, our splendor, where our fathers praised you, has become a burning of fire, and all our pleasant things have become a ruin.

Over these things will you restrain yourself, Yahweh? Will you hush and afflict us exceedingly?
