Isaiah57

The righteous one has perished, and no one lays it to heart; and the men of loyal love are gathered in, with no one discerning that the righteous one is gathered away from the face of the evil.

Wholeness will come; they will rest on their beds, each one walking in his straightness.

And you, come near here, children of the soothsayer, seed of an adulterer, and she played the prostitute.

At whom do you make sport? At whom do you widen the mouth and lengthen the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, seed of falsehood,

you who inflame yourselves among the pillars, under every leafy tree, who slaughter the children in the wadis, under the clefts of the crags?

Among the smooth ones of the wadi is your portion; they, they are your lot; also to them you poured out a drink offering, you brought up a grain offering. Shall I be comforted over these things?

On a high and lifted up mountain you set your bed; also there you went up to sacrifice a sacrifice.

And behind the door and the doorpost you put your memorial; for away from me you uncovered yourself, and climbed up; you widened your bed; you cut a bargain for yourself with them; you loved their bed; you saw a hand.

You journeyed to the king with oil, and multiplied your perfumes; you sent your envoys far off, and brought yourself low even to Sheol.

In the multitude of your way you grew weary, but you did not say, 'It is hopeless'; you found the life of your hand, therefore you did not grow weak.

And of whom were you anxious and afraid, that you lied, and me you did not remember, did not lay it to your heart? Have I not been hushed, even from forever, and you do not fear me?

I will tell your righteousness and your works, but they will not profit you.

When you cry out, let your idols deliver you; but a wind will carry off all of them, a vapor will take them. But the one who takes refuge in me will inherit the land and will possess my holy mountain.

And one will say: Mound up, mound up, turn the way clear, lift up the stumbling-block from the way of my people.

For thus says the high one and the exalted one, who dwells in perpetuity, and holy is his name: in a high place, and holy, I dwell, and with the contrite and low of breath, to make alive the breath of the low and to make alive the heart of the crushed.

For I will not contend forever, nor will I be angry perpetually; for the breath would grow faint before my face, and the breaths which I have made.

Because of the guilt of his unjust gain I was angry, and I struck him, hiding, and I was angry; but he went wayward in the way of his heart.

I have seen his ways, and I will heal him, and I will lead him, and I will restore comfort to him and to his mourners.

Creating the produce of the lips: wholeness, wholeness to the one afar and to the one near, said Yahweh, and I will heal him.

But the wicked are like the sea being driven, for it cannot be quiet, and its waters cast up mire and mud.

There is no wholeness, said my God, for the wicked.
