Who has trusted our report? And to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?
He came up before him like a shoot, and like a root out of dry land; he had no form and no splendor, that we should look at him, and no appearance, that we should desire him.
He was despised, and people held back from him; a man of pains and acquainted with sickness; like one from whom a face is hidden, he was despised, and we did not value him.
Surely he bore our sicknesses and carried our pains; yet we considered him stricken, struck by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our guilt; the discipline of our wholeness was on him, and by his bruise we are healed.
All of us have gone astray like sheep, each turning to his own way; and Yahweh has made the guilt of us all light upon him.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a sheep brought to the slaughter, and like a ewe dumb before its shearers, he did not open his mouth.
From restraint and from justice he was taken away; and who will consider his generation? For he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the transgression of my people, a wound was his.
His grave was assigned with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death, though he had done no violence, and no deceit was in his mouth.
Yahweh desired to crush him; he made him sick. If his being makes a guilt offering, he will see offspring, he will prolong days, and the pleasure of Yahweh will prosper in his hand.
From the labor of his being he will see and be satisfied; by his knowledge the righteous one, my servant, will justify the many, and he will bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will allot him a portion among the many, and he will apportion plunder with the mighty; because he poured out his life to death and was numbered with the transgressors, yet he bore the sin of many and will intercede for the transgressors.
