Isaiah50

Thus says Yahweh: Where is this document of your mother's divorce, with which I sent her away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I sold you? Look, for your guilt you were sold, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away.

Why, when I came, was there no man; when I called, was there no one to answer? Was my hand too short to ransom, or is there no strength in me to deliver? Look, by my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make rivers a wilderness; their fish stink for lack of water, and die of thirst.

I will clothe the skies with darkness, and I will make sackcloth their covering.

The Adonai Yahweh has given me the tongue of disciples, to know how to sustain the exhausted with a word. Morning by morning he rouses, he rouses my ear to hear like disciples.

The Adonai Yahweh has opened my ear, and I have not rebelled; I have not turned backward.

I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who make them bare; my face I did not hide from disgrace and spit.

But the Adonai Yahweh helps me; therefore I am not humiliated; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.

The one who justifies me is near; who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is the master of my justice? Let him draw near to me.

Look, the Adonai Yahweh helps me; who is he that will condemn me? Look, all of them will wear out like a garment; the moth will eat them.

Who among you fears Yahweh, listening to the voice of his servant? He who walked in darknesses has no brightness; let him trust in the name of Yahweh and lean on his God.

Look, all of you who kindle fire, who gird on firebrands: walk in the light of your fire and in the firebrands you have kindled. This will be yours from my hand; you will lie down in torment.
