Woe to the one who devastates, though you yourself have not been devastated; and to the one who betrays, though they have not betrayed him. When you finish devastating, you will be devastated; when you complete betraying, they will betray you.
Yahweh, show us favor; we have waited for you. Be their arm every morning, and our deliverance in the time of distress.
From the sound of the tumult peoples fled; from your rising up nations scattered.
Your plunder will be gathered, as with the gathering of the locust; like the rushing of locusts, one rushes upon it.
Yahweh is exalted, for he dwells on high; he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
And the steadiness of your times will be the riches of deliverances, wisdom and knowledge; the fear of Yahweh, that is his treasury.
Look, their brave ones have cried out outside; the messengers of wholeness weep bitterly.
The highways lie desolate; the one passing by the path has ceased. He has broken the covenant, rejected cities, and has not reckoned any human.
The land has mourned and languished; Lebanon is put to shame, it has withered; the Sharon has become like the Desert Plain, and Bashan and Carmel are shaking off their leaves.
Now I will rise, says Yahweh; now I will make myself high; now I will lift myself up.
You will conceive chaff, you will bear stubble; your breath is a fire that will eat you up.
And peoples will be burnings of lime, thornbushes cut down; in the fire they will be set ablaze.
Hear, you who are far, what I have done; and know, you who are near, my might.
Sinners in Zion are in dread; trembling has seized the godless. Who among us can live with a consuming fire? Who among us can live with blazing masses that burn forever?
The one who walks in righteousness and speaks what is level; who rejects unjust gain from extortions, who shakes his palms free of taking hold of a bribe, who shuts his ear from hearing of bloodshed, and who shuts his eyes from looking on evil.
He will dwell on the heights; his secure height is the mountain-fastnesses of the crags; his food is given, his water is sure.
Your eyes will gaze at a king in his splendor; they will see a land of far distances.
Your heart will muse on dread: where is the one who counts? Where is the one who weighs? Where is the one who counts the towers?
You will not see a barbarous people, a people too deep of lip to hear, stammering of tongue, with no understanding.
Gaze on Zion, the town of our appointed meetings; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a dwelling at ease, a tent that will not move on, its stakes will not be pulled up for all time, and none of its cords will be torn apart.
But there Yahweh will be majestic for us, a place of rivers, channels wide on every side; no ship of oars will go on it, and no majestic ship will cross it.
For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh is our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king; he himself will save us.
Your ropes hang loose; they cannot hold firm the base of their mast, they cannot spread the sail. Then the prey of plunder is divided in abundance; the lame plunder the spoil.
And no resident will say, I am sick; the people that dwells in it has its guilt lifted.
