In the year the commander came to Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and captured it,
At that time Yahweh spoke by the hand of Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, 'Go, loosen the sackcloth from your loins and pull your sandal off your feet.' And he did so, going naked and barefoot.
And Yahweh said, 'Just as my slave Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a portent over Egypt and over Cush,
So the king of Assyria will drive off the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, boys and old men, naked and barefoot, with buttocks bared, the nakedness of Egypt.
They will be dismayed and ashamed because of Cush, their hope, and of Egypt, their splendor.
And the one who dwells in this coastland will say in that day: Look, such is our hope; we fled there for help, to be delivered from the face of the king of Assyria. And how will we escape?
