Isaiah16

Send a lamb to the ruler of the land, from Sela toward the wilderness, to the mountain of the daughter of Zion.

And it will be that, like a bird fleeing, like a nest sent away, so the daughters of Moab will be at the fords of the Arnon.

Bring counsel, make a verdict; set your shade like night in the middle of noon; hide the banished, do not reveal the fugitive.

Let my banished ones of Moab stay as guests among you; be a hiding place for them from the face of the devastator. For the oppressor has come to an end, devastation has ceased, the trampler is finished from the land.

And a throne will be established in loyal love, and one will sit on it in stability, in the tent of David, one who judges and seeks justice and is swift in righteousness.

We have heard of the majesty of Moab, very proud: his pride and his majesty and his fury; not so his empty talk.

Therefore Moab will wail for Moab; all of it will wail. For the raisin-cakes of Kir Hareseth you will moan, surely stricken.

For the fields of Heshbon languish, the vine of Sibmah; the lords of the nations struck down its choice vine-tendrils; they reached as far as Jazer, they wandered in the wilderness; its shoots spread out, they passed over the sea.

Therefore I weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I drench you with my tears, Heshbon and Elealeh; for over your summer fruit and over your harvest a shout has fallen.

Gladness and rejoicing are gathered away from the orchard; and in the vineyards no one sings out, no one raises a shout; wine in the presses the treader does not tread; the shout I have made to cease.

Therefore my inward parts hum for Moab like a lyre, and my midst for Kir Heres.

And it will be, when Moab appears, when he has wearied himself on the high place, and he comes to his sanctuary to pray, he will not prevail.

This is the word that Yahweh spoke concerning Moab long ago.

And now Yahweh has spoken, saying: In three years, like the years of a hired worker, the weightiness of Moab will be made light, amid all the great horde; and the remnant will be little, a mere trifle, not mighty.
