The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab was devastated, cut off; for in a night Kir of Moab was devastated, cut off.
He has gone up to the house and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep; over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails; on all his heads is baldness, every beard is shaved off.
In its streets they have girded on sackcloth; on its roofs and in its open places all of it wails, going down in weeping.
Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; as far as Jahaz their voice is heard. Therefore the armed men of Moab shout; his being trembles within him.
My heart cries out for Moab; her fugitives are as far as Zoar, Eglath Shelishiyah; for the ascent of Luhith one goes up it with weeping; for on the road of Horonaim they rouse a cry of ruin.
For the waters of Nimrim are desolations; for the grass has dried up, the vegetation has come to an end, and there is no greenery.
Therefore the wealth they have made, and their store, they carry them off over the wadi of the willows.
For the cry has gone around the boundary of Moab; her wailing reaches as far as Eglaim, and in Beer Elim her wailing.
For the waters of Dimon are full of blood; for I will put more upon Dimon: a lion for the escaped remnant of Moab, and for the remnant of the ground.
