Hosea2

Say to your brothers, My people, and to your sisters, She is shown compassion.

Contend with your mother, contend, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. And let her remove her whoredoms from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts.

Lest I strip her naked, and place her as on the day she was born, and make her like the wilderness, and set her like a parched land, and put her to death with thirst.

And I will not have compassion on her children, for they are children of whoredoms.

For their mother has prostituted herself; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, I will go after my lovers, who give my food and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drinks.

Therefore, look, I am hedging your way with thorns, and I will wall her in with a wall, and she will not find her paths.

She will pursue her lovers but will not overtake them; she will seek them but will not find them. Then she will say, I will go and return to my first husband, for it was better for me then than now.

And she did not know that I gave her the grain and the new wine and the fresh oil, and I multiplied silver for her, and gold, which they made for Baal.

Therefore I will return and take my grain in its time, and my new wine in its appointed time, and I will snatch away my wool and my flax, to cover her nakedness.

And now I will uncover her disgrace before the eyes of her lovers, and no one will snatch her out of my hand.

And I will put an end to all her joy, her festival, her new moon, and her sabbath, and every one of her appointed times.

And I will devastate her vine and her fig tree, of which she said, They are my wages, which my lovers gave me; and I will make them a thicket, and the animals of the field will eat them.

And I will visit upon her the days of the Baals, when she made offerings smoke to them, and she adorned herself with her ring and her jewelry, and she went after her lovers, and me she forgot, the utterance of Yahweh.

Therefore, look, I am about to entice her, and I will lead her into the wilderness and speak to her heart.

And from there I will give her her vineyards, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she will answer there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day of her coming up from the land of Egypt.

And it will be on that day, the utterance of Yahweh, you will call, My husband, and you will not call to me again, My Baal.

And I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they will not be remembered again by their name.

And on that day I will cut for them a covenant with the animals of the field, and with the birds of the skies, and the creeping things of the ground; and bow and sword and war I will break from the land, and I will make them lie down in security.

And I will betroth you to myself forever; and I will betroth you to myself in righteousness and in justice and in loyal love and in compassion.

And I will betroth you to myself in steadiness; and you will know Yahweh.

It will happen in that day: I will answer, the utterance of Yahweh; I will answer the skies, and they will answer the land.

And the land will answer the grain and the new wine and the oil, and they will answer Jezreel.

And I will sow her for myself in the land, and I will have compassion on Lo-Ruhamah; and I will say to Lo-Ammi, You are my people, and he will say, My God.
