The word of Yahweh that came to Hosea son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel.
The beginning of Yahweh's speaking through Hosea: Yahweh said to Hosea, Go, take for yourself a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms, for the land does nothing but prostitute itself, away from following Yahweh.
He went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived and bore him a son.
Yahweh said to him, Call his name Jezreel, for yet a little while and I will visit the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.
And it will be on that day that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.
She conceived again and bore a daughter. And he said to him, Call her name Lo-Ruhamah, for I will not again have compassion on the house of Israel, but I will surely take them away.
But on the house of Judah I will have compassion, and I will save them by Yahweh their God; and I will not save them by bow, by sword, by war, by horses, or by horsemen.
She weaned Lo-Ruhamah, and conceived and bore a son.
He said, Call his name Lo-Ammi, for you are not my people, and I will not be yours.
And the number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea, which will not be measured and will not be counted. And it will be, in the place where it was said to them, You are not my people, it will be said to them, Children of the living God.
The children of Judah and the children of Israel will be gathered together, and they will set one head over themselves, and they will go up from the land, for great is the day of Jezreel.
