Hebrews9

Therefore the first tabernacle had indeed also regulations of worship and an earthly Holy Place.

For a tabernacle was prepared, the first room — in which were both the lampstand and the table and the bread of the presentation — which is named the Holy Places.

Now behind the second veil was a tabernacle which is being named Holies of Holies,

having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered around in every part with gold, in which was the golden jar having the manna and the staff of Aaron which had budded and the tablets of the covenant;

then above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, concerning which it is not now the time to speak in detail.

Now these things thus prepared, the priests at all times enter indeed into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the sacred services;

however into the second the high priest only enters once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of ignorance of the people;

by this the Holy Spirit was signifying that the way into the Holy Places has not yet been made manifest while the first tabernacle still has a standing;

which is a symbol for the appointed-time which is present, in which gifts both and sacrifices are offered, not being able in regard to conscience to make perfect the one who worships,

consisting only in foods and in drinks and in various washings, ordinances of the flesh being imposed until the appointed-time of reformation.

However the Anointed One, having appeared as high priest of the good things having come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made by hands, that is, not of this creation,

nor through blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, he entered once for all into the Holy Places, having obtained eternal redemption.

For if the blood of goats and of bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the defiled sets apart for purification of the flesh,

how much more will the blood of the Anointed One, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

And because of this he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

For where there is a will, it is necessary to establish the death of the one who made it;

for a will is affirmed after death, since otherwise it is not in force when the one who made it is living.

Wherefore neither the first has been inaugurated apart from blood.

For when every commandment according to the law was being spoken under Moses to all the people, having taken the blood of calves and of goats with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,

saying, "this is the blood of the covenant which God commanded unto you";

and the tabernacle then and all the vessels of the ministry he likewise sprinkled with blood.

And almost all things are purified with blood according to the law, and apart from blood-shedding there is no forgiveness.

Then it was necessary for the representations indeed of the things in the heavens to be purified with these, however the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

For the Anointed One has entered not into Holy Places made by hands, copies of the true ones, but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

nor that he may offer himself repeatedly, just as the high priest enters into the Holy Places every year with the blood of another;

otherwise it was necessary for him to have suffered repeatedly from the foundation of the world, however now once in the consummation of the ages he has been revealed for the putting away of sin through the sacrifice of himself.

And inasmuch as it is apportioned to men once to die, and after this to face judgment,

so also the Anointed One, once having been offered in order to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time apart from sin to those awaiting him for salvation.
