Therefore let us fear, lest, while the promise to enter into his rest is left remaining, any of you may seem to have fallen short.
For we have had good news proclaimed to us, just as also they did; but the message they heard did not profit them, not being united with the trust of those who had heard.
For we who have trusted enter into the rest, even as he has said: So I swore in my wrath, They will not enter into my rest; and yet the works have been finished from the foundation of the world.
For he has spoken somewhere concerning the seventh day in this way: And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.
And in this passage again: They will not enter into my rest.
Since therefore it remains for some to enter into it, and those formerly evangelised did not enter in because of disobedience,
again he appoints a certain day, Today, saying through David, after so long a time, even as it has been predicted: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.
For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not then have been speaking about another day after this;
So then there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his own.
Therefore let us be diligent to enter into that very rest, so that no one may fall by the same example of disobedience.
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even as far as the division of being and spirit, of joints and also marrows, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart;
And there is no creature hidden before him; but all things are uncovered and laid bare to his eyes, to whom is our reckoning.
Therefore, having a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to our confession.
For we have not a high priest not being able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but tempted in all things in the same way, without sin.
Therefore let us come with boldness to the throne of favor, so that we may receive compassion and find favor for help in time of need.
