Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling, carefully consider the sent one and high priest of our confession, the Anointed One Jesus,
being faithful to the One who appointed Him, as also Moses in all his house.
For He has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by so much as the one having built it has greater honor than the house itself;
for every house is built by someone, but the One having built everything is God.
And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, unto a testimony of the things to be spoken,
but the Anointed One as the Son over his house, whose house we ourselves are, if indeed we hold our confidence and the boast of our hope until the end, unshakable.
Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says: Today if you shall hear His voice,
you shall not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness,
where your fathers tried me by testing me and saw my works
forty years; therefore I was angry with that generation, and I said: Always they go astray in the heart; and they themselves have not known my ways;
so I swore in my wrath: They will not enter into my rest.
Take heed, brothers, otherwise there will be in any of you an evil heart of distrust, in the falling away from the living God;
but encourage each other every day, while it is called this today, so that not any one of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin;
for we have become partakers of the Anointed One, if indeed we shall hold firm from the beginning of the assurance unto the end;
as the saying: Today if you shall hear His voice, you shall not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
For who were those having heard who rebelled? but surely all those who came out of Egypt through Moses?
Now with whom was He indignant forty years? Surely with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
Then to whom did He swear that they would not enter into His rest, except to those who disobeyed?
And we see that they were not able to enter in because of distrust.
