Genesis46

Israel set out with all that was his, and came to Beer-sheba, and he sacrificed sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

God said to Israel in the visions of the night, "Jacob, Jacob." He said, "Here I am."

He said, "I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation.

I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I myself will bring you up also surely; and Joseph will set his hand over your eyes."

Jacob rose from Beer-sheba, and the children of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives in the carts that Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

They took their livestock and the property they had gathered in the land of Canaan, and came to Egypt: Jacob and all his seed with him.

His sons, and the sons of his sons with him, his daughters, and the daughters of his sons, and all his seed: he brought them with him to Egypt.

These are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt: Jacob and his sons. Reuben was the firstborn of Jacob.

And the children of Reuben: Hanoch and Pallu and Hezron and Carmi.

And the children of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin and Ohad and Jakin and Zohar, and Shaul the son of the Canaanite woman.

And the children of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

And the children of Judah: Er and Onan and Shelah and Perez and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the children of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

And the children of Issachar: Tola and Puah and Iob and Shimron.

And the children of Zebulun: Sered and Elon and Jahleel.

These are the children of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, along with Dinah his daughter. In all, his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three beings.

And the children of Gad: Zephon and Haggi, Shuni and Ezbon, Eri and Arodi and Areli.

And the children of Asher: Imnah and Ishvah and Ishvi and Beriah, and Serah their sister. And the children of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel.

These are the children of Zilpah, whom Laban had given to Leah his daughter; she bore these to Jacob: sixteen beings.

The children of Rachel, the wife of Jacob: Joseph and Benjamin.

Born to Joseph in the land of Egypt were Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, daughter of Poti-phera, priest of On, bore to him.

And the children of Benjamin: Bela and Beker and Ashbel, Gera and Naaman, Ehi and Rosh, Muppim and Huppim and Ard.

These are the children of Rachel, who were born to Jacob: all the beings were fourteen.

And the children of Dan: Hushim.

And the children of Naphtali: Jahzeel and Guni and Jezer and Shillem.

These are the children of Bilhah, whom Laban had given to Rachel his daughter; she bore these to Jacob: seven beings in all.

All the beings who came with Jacob to Egypt, those who came out of his thigh, apart from the wives of the sons of Jacob: all the beings were sixty-six.

And the children of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two beings. All the beings of the household of Jacob who came to Egypt were seventy.

He sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph, to point out the way ahead of him to Goshen; and they came to the land of Goshen.

Joseph yoked his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet Israel his father. He appeared to him, fell on his neck, and wept on his neck for a long while.

Israel said to Joseph, "Let me die this time, after I have seen your face, that you are still alive."

Joseph said to his brothers and to the house of his father, "I will go up and I will tell Pharaoh, and I will say to him, 'My brothers and the house of my father, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

And the men are shepherds of the flock, for they have been men of livestock; and they have brought their flock and their cattle and all that is theirs.'

And it will be, when Pharaoh calls you and says, 'What is your work?'

you will say, 'Your servants have been men of livestock from our youth until now, both we and our fathers' — so that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd of the flock is an abomination to the Egyptians."
