Genesis22

It happened after these words that God tested Abraham and said to him, Abraham! And he said, Here I am.

And he said, Please take your son, your only child, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him up there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I will tell you.

And Abraham started out early in the morning and saddled his donkey; he took two of his boys with him, and Isaac his son; he split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose and went to the place that God had told him.

On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from a distance.

And Abraham said to his boys, Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go as far as there, and we will bow down and return to you.

And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire and the knife in his hand; and the two of them went together.

And Isaac said to Abraham his father, and said, My father! And he said, Here I am, my son. And he said, Here are the fire and the wood, but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?

Abraham said, "God himself will see to the sheep for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together.

And they came to the place that God had told him; and there Abraham built the altar, and arranged the wood, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.

And the messenger of Yahweh called to him from the heavens, and said, Abraham, Abraham; and he said, Here am I.

And he said, Do not stretch out your hand to the boy, and do not do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only child from me.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering in place of his son.

And Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Will See, as it is said today, On the mountain of Yahweh it will be seen.

And the messenger of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time from the heavens.

And he said, By myself I have sworn, the utterance of Yahweh: because you have done this word and have not withheld your son, your only child,

that I will surely bless you and will surely multiply your seed like the stars of the skies and like the sand that is on the edge of the sea; and your seed will take possession of the gate of their enemies.

and by your seed all the nations of the land will bless themselves, because you listened to my voice.

And Abraham returned to his boys, and they rose and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelled in Beer-sheba.

And it happened after these words that it was told to Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to Nahor your brother:

Uz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

and Kesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

And Bethuel fathered Rebekah; these eight Milcah bore to Nahor the brother of Abraham.

And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she also bore Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maacah.
