Genesis21

And Yahweh visited Sarah just as he had said, and Yahweh did for Sarah just as he had spoken.

And Sarah conceived and bore to Abraham a son in his old age, at the appointed time that God had spoken with him.

And Abraham called the name of his son who had been born to him, whom Sarah had borne to him, Isaac.

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, just as God had commanded him.

And Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac his son was born to him.

And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham, Sarah has nursed children? For I have borne a son in his old age.”

And the child grew and was weaned; and Abraham made a great feast on the day Isaac was weaned.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, laughing.

And she said to Abraham, “Drive out this maidservant and her son; for the son of this maidservant shall not inherit with my son, with Isaac.”

And the word was very displeasing in the eyes of Abraham, on account of his son.

And God said to Abraham, “Let it not be displeasing in your eyes over the boy and over your maidservant; all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice, for through Isaac seed will be called for you.”

And also the son of the maidservant I will make him into a nation, for he is your seed.

And Abraham rose early in the morning and took food and a skin of water, and gave them to Hagar, placing them on her shoulder, and the boy, and sent her away; and she went and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

And the water was used up from the skin, and she cast the boy under one of the bushes.

And she went and sat down opposite, at a distance, like those who shoot a bow; for she said, “Let me not look on the death of the boy.” And she sat opposite, and lifted up her voice, and wept.

And God heard the sound of the boy; and the messenger of God called to Hagar from the heavens, and said to her, What is to you, Hagar? Make not afraid, for God heard to the sound of the boy in which he is there.

Rise, lift up the boy, and hold him fast with your hand; for I will make him into a great nation.

And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the skin with water, and gave a drink to the boy.

And God was with the boy, and he grew up; and he dwelled in the wilderness, and became a shooter, a bowman.

And he dwelled in the wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

And it happened at that time that Abimelech and Phicol, captain of his army, said to Abraham, saying, God is with you in all that you do.

And now, swear to me by God here that you will not deal falsely with me, or with my offspring, or with my descendants; as the loyal love that I did with you, you will do with me, and with the land in which you have sojourned.

And Abraham said, I will swear.

And Abraham reproved Abimelech about the well of water that Abimelech's servants had seized.

And Abimelech said, I do not know who has done this word; you also did not tell me, and I also have not heard of it except today.

And Abraham took flocks and herds and gave them to Abimelech; and the two of them cut a covenant.

And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

And Abimelech said to Abraham, What are these seven ewe lambs that you have set by themselves?

And he said, Indeed, you are to take the seven ewe lambs from my hand, so that it may become a witness for me that I dug this well.

Therefore he called that place Beer-sheba, because there the two of them swore an oath.

And they cut a covenant at Beer-sheba; and Abimelech rose, and Phicol, captain of his army, and they returned to the land of the Philistines.

And he planted a tamarisk tree at Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of Yahweh, the God of forever.

And Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines for many days.
