Genesis13

And Abram came up out of Egypt, he and his wife and all that belonged to him, and Lot with him, to the South.

Now Abram was very heavy with livestock, with silver, and with gold.

And he went by his stages from the South as far as Beth-el, to the place where his tent had been there at the beginning, between Beth-el and between Ai,

to the place of the altar that he had made there at first; and there Abram called on the name of Yahweh.

And also Lot, who went with Abram had flocks and cattle and tents.

And the land could not bear them to dwell together, for their property was great, and they could not dwell together.

And there was strife between the shepherds of the livestock of Abram and the shepherds of the livestock of Lot; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite then dwelled in the land.

And Abram said to Lot, Please, let there be no dispute between me and you, and between my shepherds and your shepherds, for we are men, brothers.

Is it not all the land before you? Separate, please, from me. If you take the left, I will go right; and if you take the right, I will go left.

Lot lifted up his eyes and saw the whole district of the Jordan, that all of it was well irrigated, before Yahweh ruined Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar.

And Lot chose for himself all the round district of the Jordan, and Lot set out eastward; and they separated, each from beside his brother.

Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the round district and pitched his tent as far as Sodom.

And the men of Sodom were evil, and sinners against Yahweh, exceedingly.

And Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, Lift up, please, your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and seaward.

For all the land that you see, to you I will give it, and to your seed forever.

And I will make your seed like the dust of the land, so that if anyone is able to count the dust of the land, also your seed will be counted.

Rise, walk about in the land, through its length and through its breadth, for to you I will give it.

And Abram pitched his tent, and came and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre, which are at Hebron; and he built an altar there to Yahweh.
