Genesis11

All the land had one lip and the same words.

As they set out from the east, they found a valley in the land of Shinar and dwelled there.

Each said to his neighbor, "Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly." So the brick became stone for them, and the tar became mortar for them.

They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city and a tower, with its top in the skies, and let us make a name for ourselves, so that we are not scattered over the face of all the land.”

Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower that the children of mankind had built.

Yahweh said, “Look, one people with one language for all of them, and this is what they begin to do. And now nothing that they scheme to do will be walled off from them.”

Come, let us go down and mix up their language there, so that no one will hear the language of his neighbor.

Yahweh scattered them from there over the face of all the land, and they ceased to build the city.

That is why its name was called Babel, for there Yahweh mixed up the language of all the land, and from there Yahweh scattered them over the face of all the land.

These are the accounts of Shem: Shem was a son of a hundred years, and he fathered Arphaxad two years after the flood.

And Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and he fathered Shelah.

And Shelah lived thirty years, and he fathered Eber.

Shelah lived after he fathered Eber three years and four hundred year, and fathered children and daughters.

Eber lived thirty-four years, and he fathered Peleg.

Eber lived after he fathered Peleg thirty year and four hundred year, and fathered children and daughters.

Peleg lived thirty years, and he fathered Reu.

Peleg lived after he fathered Reu nine years and two hundred year, and fathered children and daughters.

Reu lived thirty-two years, and he fathered Serug.

Reu lived after he fathered Serug seven years and two hundred year, and fathered children and daughters.

Serug lived thirty years, and he fathered Nahor.

Serug lived after he fathered Nahor two hundred year, and fathered children and daughters.

Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and he fathered Terah.

Nahor lived after he fathered Terah nineteen year and hundred year, and fathered children and daughters.

Terah lived seventy years, and he fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

And these are the accounts of Terah: Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.

Haran died before the face of Terah his father, in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves; the name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah, daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.

Sarai was barren; she had no child.

Terah took Abram his son, and Lot, son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son; and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan, and they came as far as Haran and dwelled there.

The days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.
