And as these were completed, the officials drew near to me, saying, The people Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated from the peoples of the lands, as their abominations, to the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, the Ammonite, the Moabite, the Egyptian, and the Amorite.
For they have lifted up from their daughters to them and to their sons, and the holy seed has made itself in the peoples of the lands; and the hand of the officials and the officials was in this breach first.
And as I heard this word, I tore my garment and my robe, and I went from the hair of my head and beard, and I dwelled appalled.
And to me all who feared the words of the God of Israel will gather over the breach of the exile; and I dwelled appalled until the grain offering of the evening.
And at the grain offering of the evening I rose from my humiliation, and in my tearing of my garment and my robe, I crouched over my knees, and I spread abroad my palms to Yahweh my God.
And I said, My God, I am ashamed and I am shamed to rise, my God, my face to you, for our guilts have multiplied to above the head, and our guilt has become great to the skies.
From the days of our fathers we have been in great guilt to this day, and in our guilts we, we and our kings, our priests, have been set in the hand of the kings of the lands, in the sword, in prisoners, and in the plunder, and in the shame of the faces, as this day.
And now, as a little of an instant, there was favor from with Yahweh our God, to leave to us a deliverance, and to set to us a stake in the place of his holiness, that our God might make our eyes shine, and to set us a little preservation of life in our servitude.
For we are slaves, and in our servitude our God did not forsake us, and he stretched out over us loyal love to the face of the kings of Persia, to set to us a preservation of life, to rise the house of our God and to set his ruins, and to set to us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
And now what will we say, our God, after that we have forsaken your commandments,
which you commanded in the hand of your slaves the prophets, saying, The land which you went to occupy is a land of the menstruation, she, in the menstruation of the peoples of the lands, in their abominations which have filled it from mouth to mouth in their uncleanness.
And now your daughters do not set to their sons, and their daughters do not lift up to your sons, and you will not inquire their wholeness and their good forever, for the sake that you be strong, and you eat the good of the land, and you occupy it to your sons forever.
And after that all that comes over us in our evil work, and in our great guilt, for you, our God, you have restrained downward from our guilt, and you have set to us a deliverance as this,
shall we return to break your commandments, and to intermarry in the peoples of these abominations? Will you not be angry in us until you are completed, to there being no remnant and deliverance?
Yahweh the God of Israel, you are righteous, for we are left a deliverance, as this day; behold, we are to your face in our guilt, for there is none to stand to your face over this.
