Ezra8

And these are the heads of their fathers, and the enrollment of those who came up with me in the kingdom of Artaxerxes the king from Babylon:

From the children of Phinehas, Gershom; from the children of Ithamar, Daniel; from the children of David, Hattush;

from the children of Shecaniah; from the children of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him were enrolled to a hundred and fifty males;

from the children of Pahath-moab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him a hundred males;

from the children of Zattu, Shecaniah the children of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males;

and from the children of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males;

and from the children of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males;

and from the children of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him eighty males;

from the children of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him a hundred and eighteen males;

and from the children of Bani, Shelomith the children of Josiphiah, and with him a hundred and sixty males;

and from the children of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males;

and from the children of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him a hundred and ten males;

and from the children of Adonikam the last, and their names: Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them sixty males;

and from the children of Bigvai, Uthai and Zaccur, and with him seventy males.

And I gathered them together at the river that goes to Ahava, and we encamped there three days; and I discerned among the people and among the priests, and from the children of Levi I found none there.

Then I sent for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, heads, and for Joiarib and for Elnathan, discerning;

and I commanded them over Iddo the head in Casiphia the place, and I put in their mouths words to speak to Iddo his brother, the Nethinim in Casiphia the place, to bring to us those who served for the house of our God.

And our God brought to us, as the good hand over us, a man of the good from the children of Mahli the son of Levi the son of Israel, and Sherebiah and his children and his brother, eighteen;

and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah from the children of Merari, his brother and their children, twenty;

and from the Nethinim, whom David and the officials had given to the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim, all of them designated by names.

Then I called a fast there over the river Ahava, to afflict ourselves to the face of our God, to search from him a way that pleased well and right for us, and for our family, and for all our property.

For I was ashamed to inquire from the king an army and horsemen to help us from an enemy in the way, for we had said to the king, saying, The hand of our God is over all those who seek him to the good, and his strength and his anger over all those who forsake him.

So we fasted, and we searched from our God over this, and he prayed for us.

Then I separated from the officials of the priests twelve, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and with them from their brothers ten;

and I weighed to them the silver and the gold and the vessels, the contribution of the house of our God, that the king and his advisers and his officials and all Israel those who found there had raised.

And I weighed over their hand the silver of the talents, six hundred and fifty, and the articles of the silver, a hundred talents, gold a hundred talent;

and the hoar frost of the gold, twenty drachmas of a thousand, and the articles of the bronze gleamed good, two, desires as the gold.

And I said to them, You are holiness to Yahweh, and the vessels are holiness, and the silver and the gold are a free offering to Yahweh the God of your fathers.

Watch and keep them, until you weigh them to the face of the officials of the priests and the Levites and the officials of the fathers to Israel in Jerusalem, in the halls of the house of Yahweh.

So the priests and the Levites aligned the weight of the silver and the gold and the vessels, to bring to Jerusalem to the house of our God.

Then we set out from the river of Ahava on the twelfth of the first month, to go to Jerusalem; and the hand of our God was over us, and he delivered us from the palm of the enemy and those who lay in wait over the way.

And we came to Jerusalem, and we dwelled there three days.

And on the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God over the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest, and with him Eleazar the son of Phinehas, and with them Jozabad the son of Jeshua and Noadiah the son of Binnui, the Levites,

by number, by weight to all; and all the weight was written in that time.

Those who came from the prisoners, the children of the exile, brought near burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve bulls over all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve male goats of the sin, all a burnt offering to Yahweh.

And they set the king's decrees to the satraps of the king and the governors of the side of the River, and they lifted up the people and the house of God.
