And Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo, the prophets, prophesied over the Jewish who are in Judah and in Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel over them.
In the then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak set up, and they dwelled to build the house of God in Jerusalem, and with them the prophets of God, supporting them.
In it the time, Tattenai the governor of the region across of the river and Shethar-Bozenai and their associates brought over them, and said to them thus, Whoever paid to you a decree to build this house and to complete this wall?
Then accordingly we said to them, Whoever are they, the names of the men who build this building?
And the eye of their God willed be over the hoary of the Jewish, and they did not cease them, until the account will go to Darius, and then a letter will return.
The copy of the letter-missive that Tattenai the governor of the region across of the river and Shethar-Bozenai and her associates, the officials who are in the region across of the river, sent over Darius the king.
They sent a matter in it, and as written in her midst: To Darius the king, all peace.
Be it known to the king that we went to Judea the province, to the house of God the great, and he is built with the stone of the rolling, and wood is paid in the walls, and this affair is made thoroughly and promotes in their hand.
Then we asked to the hoary, accordingly we said to them thus, Whoever paid to you a decree to build this house and to complete this wall?
And also their names we asked to them, to make known to you, that we will write the name of the men who are in their head.
And accordingly the matter returned us to say, We are his servants of the God of the heavens and earth, and we built the house that willed be built from the earlier of the years greatly, and a great king to Israel built it and he completed it.
And except in which our fathers enraged to the God of the heavens, he gave them in the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon the Chaldean, and he secreted this house, and the peoples he revealed to Babylon.
Yet in the year of one to Cyrus the king of Babylon, Cyrus the king paid a decree to build the house of God.
And also the vessels of the house of God, of gold and silver, that Nebuchadnezzar came and went in the palace in Jerusalem, and he bore them along to the palace of Babylon, Cyrus the king came and went them from the palace of Babylon, and they gave them to Sheshbazzar his name, who he paid governor.
And he said to him, Carry away these vessels, go, coming them in the palace in Jerusalem, and the house of God will build in her place.
Then Sheshbazzar brought, gave the foundations of the house of God in Jerusalem, and from then and until now it is built, and it is not brought.
And now, if it is good in the king, he will inquire in the house of the treasures of the king there in Babylon, if there is that from Cyrus the king a decree was paid to build the house of God in Jerusalem; and the good pleasure of the king over this he will send over us.
