¹And you, son of the man, take for yourself a sharp sword; a barber's razor you will take it for yourself, and make it pass over your head and over your beard; and take for yourself scales for weighing, and divide them.

²A third part you will burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are complete; and you will take the third part and strike it with the sword all around it; and the third part you will scatter to the wind, and I will draw a sword after them.

³And you will take from there a few in number, and you will confine them in the edges of your garment.

⁴And some of them again you will take, and you will throw them into the middle of the fire, and you will burn them in the fire; from it will go out a fire to all the house of Israel.

⁵Like this says the Adonai Yahweh: This is Jerusalem; in the middle of the nations I have set her, with lands all around her.

⁶And she rebelled against my justice in wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the lands that are all around her; for they rejected my justice, and my statutes — they have not walked in them.

⁷Therefore like this says the Adonai Yahweh: Because your tumult is more than the nations that are all around you, in my statutes you have not walked, and my justice you have not observed, and according to the custom of the nations that are all around you you have not done.

⁸Therefore like this says the Adonai Yahweh: Look, I am against you, even I, and I will do justices in your midst, before the eyes of the nations.

⁹And I will do in you what I have not done, and what I will not do like it again, because of all your abominations.

¹⁰Therefore fathers will eat children in your midst, and children will eat their fathers; and I will carry out judgments on you, and I will scatter all your remnant to all the winds.

¹¹Therefore, as I live, the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh: surely because you defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, I too will reduce you, and my eye will not look with compassion, and I too will not spare.

¹²A third of you will die by pestilence, and by famine they will come to an end in your midst; a third will fall by the sword all around you; and a third I will scatter to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.

¹³And my anger will be spent, and I will let my rage rest on them and I will ease myself; and they will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my jealousy, when I have spent my rage on them.

¹⁴And I will make you a ruin and a reproach among the nations around you, before the eyes of all who pass by.

¹⁵And you will be a reproach and a taunt, a chastening and a desolation, to the nations around you, when I bring about judgments on you in anger and in rage and in rebukes of rage. I, Yahweh, have spoken.

¹⁶When I shoot at them the evil arrows of famine, which were for destruction, which I will shoot them to ruin you, then I will add famine upon you, and I will break your staff of bread.

¹⁷And I will send famine and evil animals against you, and they will bereave you of children; pestilence and blood will pass through you, and I will bring a sword upon you. I, Yahweh, have spoken.
