In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the head of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was struck down, on this very day, the hand of Yahweh was on me, and he brought me there.
In visions of God he brought me to the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, and on it was like the structure of a city to the south.
And he brought me there, and behold, a man whose look was like the look of bronze, with a cord of linen in his hand and a reed for measuring, and he was standing in the gate.
And the man spoke to me: Son of humankind, see with your eyes, hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I am showing you; for you have been brought here so that I may show you. Tell the house of Israel all that you are seeing.
And behold, a wall on the outside of the house all around. And in the hand of the man was a measuring reed of six cubits, each one a cubit and a handbreadth. And he measured the breadth of the structure, one reed, and the height, one reed.
Then he went to the gate whose face was toward the east, and went up its steps. He measured the threshold of the gate, one reed in breadth, and one threshold, one reed in breadth.
And the guardroom was one reed long, and one reed wide, and between the guardrooms, five cubits; and the threshold of the gate beside the porch of the gate on the side of the house, one reed.
And he measured the porch of the gate on the side of the house, one reed.
And he measured the porch of the gate, eight cubits, and its pilasters, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was on the side of the house.
And the guardrooms of the gate toward the east were three on this side and three on that side, one size for the three of them, and one size for the pilasters on this side and on that side.
And he measured the breadth of the entrance of the gate, ten cubits, and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
And a boundary in front of the guardrooms, one cubit, and one cubit of boundary on this side; and the guardroom, six cubits on this side and six cubits on that side.
And he measured the gate from the roof of the guardroom to its roof, a breadth of twenty-five cubits, entrance opposite entrance.
And he made the pilasters sixty cubits, and the court of the gate reached to a pilaster all around.
And from the face of the entrance gate to the face of the porch of the inner gate, fifty cubits.
And closed windows were toward the guardrooms, and toward their pilasters, on the inside of the gate all around, and likewise for the porticos; and windows were all around on the inside; and toward a pilaster, palm figures.
And he brought me into the outer court, and behold, halls and a pavement made for the court all around; thirty halls on the pavement.
And the pavement extended to the shoulder of the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates, the lower pavement.
And he measured the breadth from the face of the lower gate to the face of the inner court on the outside, a hundred cubits, to the east and the north.
And the gate whose face was toward the north, at the outer court, he measured its length and its breadth.
And its guardrooms, three on this side and three on that side, and its pilasters and its porticos were like the size of the first gate: fifty cubits in length, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
And its windows and its porticos and its palm figures were like the size of the gate whose face was toward the east; and by seven steps they would go up in it, and its porticos were in front of them.
And a gate to the inner court stood opposite the gate to the north and to the east; and he measured from gate to gate, a hundred cubits.
And he led me toward the south, and look, a gate toward the south; and he measured its pilasters and its porches by these measures.
And windows belonged to it and to its porches, all around, like those windows; the length fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
And its stairway had seven steps, with its porches before them; and palm figures belonged to it, one on this side and one on that side, on its pilasters.
And a gate to the inner court toward the south; and he measured from gate to gate toward the south, a hundred cubits.
And he brought me into the inner court by the gate of the south; and he measured the gate of the south by these measures.
And its chambers and its pilasters and its porches were by these measures, and windows belonged to it and to its porches all around; the breadth fifty cubits the length, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
And porches all around: the length twenty-five cubits, and the breadth five cubits.
And its porches faced the outer court, with palm figures on its pilasters; and its ascent had eight steps.
And he brought me into the inner court toward the east; and he measured the gate by these measures.
And its chambers and its pilasters and its porches were by these measures, and windows belonged to it and to its porches all around; the length fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
And its porches faced the outer court, with palm figures on its pilasters on this side and on that; and its ascent had eight steps.
And he brought me to the gate of the north, and he measured it by these measures.
Its chambers, its pilasters, and its porches, and windows belonged to it all around; the length fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
And its pilasters faced the outer court, with palm figures on its pilasters on this side and on that; and its ascent had eight steps.
And a hall with its entrance was by the pilasters of the gates; there they would rinse the burnt offering.
And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, for slaughtering on them the burnt offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering.
And at the shoulder outside, as one goes up to the entrance of the gate toward the north, were two tables; and at the other shoulder, which belongs to the porch of the gate, two tables.
Four tables on this side, and four tables on that side, at the shoulder of the gate: eight tables, on which they would slaughter.
And four tables for the burnt offering, of the stone of the cut, the length one cubit and a half, and the breadth one cubit and a half, and the height one cubit; to them, and they will settle the equipment which they will slaughter the burnt offering in them, and the sacrifice.
And hooks of one handbreadth were fixed within the house all around; and on the tables lay the flesh of the offering.
And outside the inner gate were the rooms of singers, in the inner court, which was at the shoulder of the gate of the north, and their faces looked toward the south; one at the shoulder of the gate of the east, facing toward the north.
And he spoke to me: This hall, whose face looks toward the south, is for the priests who keep the watch of the house.
And the hall whose face looks toward the north, is for the priests who keep the watch of the altar. They are the children of Zadok, the ones who draw near from the children of Levi to Yahweh to serve him.
And he measured the court: the length a hundred cubits and the breadth a hundred cubits, a square; and the altar was before the house.
And he brought me to the porch of the house, and he measured the pilaster of the porch: five cubits on this side and five cubits on that side; and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side and three cubits on that side.
The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits, and people went up to it by steps; and pillars stood by the pilasters, one on this side and one on that side.
