And you, son of the man, take a brick for yourself and set it before your face, and inscribe on it a city, Jerusalem.
And set a siege against it, and build a siege-wall against it, and pour out a mound against it, and put camps against it, and set battering-rams against it all around.
And you, take an iron griddle for yourself, and set it as an iron wall between you and the city, and direct your face toward it, and it will be under siege, and you will lay siege against it. It is a sign for the house of Israel.
And you, lie down on your left side, and put the guilt of the house of Israel on it; for the number of the days that you lie on it, you will bear their guilt.
And I have given you the years of their guilt, by the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and you will bear the guilt of the house of Israel.
And when you have completed these, you will lie down on your right side a second time, and bear the guilt of the house of Judah forty days; a day for a year, a day for a year, I have given it to you.
And toward the siege of Jerusalem you will direct your face, with your arm bared, and you will prophesy against it.
And behold, I have put cords on you, and you will not turn over from one side to the other side, until you complete the days of your siege.
And you, take for yourself wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make them for yourself into food; for the number of the days that you lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days, you will eat it.
And your food that you will eat will be by weight, twenty shekels a day; from time to time you will eat it.
And water you will drink by measure, a sixth of the hin; from time to time you will drink.
And you will eat it as a barley cake, and you will bake it on balls of dung, the excrement of the man, before their eyes.
And Yahweh said, Thus the children of Israel will eat their food unclean, among the nations where I will banish them.
And I said, Ah, Adonai Yahweh! Look, my being has not been defiled, and a carcass and an animal torn by beasts I have not eaten from my youth until now, and no tainted flesh has come into my mouth.
And he said to me, See, I have given you the dung of the cattle in place of the dung of the man, and you will prepare your food on them.
And he said to me, Son of the man, behold, I am breaking the staff of food in Jerusalem, and they will eat food by weight and with worry, and water by measure and with dread they will drink,
so that they lack food and water, and they will be appalled, a man and his brother, and pine away in their guilt.
