¹And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say: Mountains of Israel, hear the word of Yahweh.

²This is what the Adonai Yahweh says: Because the enemy has said against you, 'Aha!' and 'The high places of forever have become ours as a possession' —

³Therefore prophesy, and say: This is what the Adonai Yahweh says: Because, on account of desolating and crushing you from all around, you became a possession for the rest of the nations, and were taken up onto the lip of the tongue and the whispering of the people —

⁴Therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Adonai Yahweh: This is what the Adonai Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the channels and to the valleys, to the ruins that are desolate and to the cities that are forsaken, which have become plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations that are all around —

⁵Therefore this is what the Adonai Yahweh says: Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations and against Edom, all of it, who made my land a possession for themselves with the gladness of every heart, with the scorn of their being, so that its pastureland might be plunder.

⁶Therefore prophesy concerning the ground of Israel, and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the channels and to the valleys: This is what the Adonai Yahweh says: Here I am — in my jealousy and in my anger I have spoken, because you have borne the disgrace of the nations.

⁷Therefore this is what the Adonai Yahweh says: I have lifted up my hand: surely the nations that are around you, they will bear their disgrace.

⁸But you, mountains of Israel, will put forth your branches and bear your fruit for my people Israel, for they have drawn near to come.

⁹For here I am with you; I will turn to you, and you will be tilled and sown.

¹⁰I will multiply people upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities will be dwelt in, and the ruins will be rebuilt.

¹¹I will multiply human beings and livestock upon you, and they will multiply and be fruitful; and I will make you dwell as in your former state, and I will do good more than at your beginnings; and you will know that I am Yahweh.

¹²I will lead people upon you — my people Israel; and they will take possession of you, and you will become an inheritance for them, and you will no longer bereave them of children.

¹³Like this the Adonai Yahweh says: Because they say to you, You are devouring human beings, and you have been bereaving your nations,

¹⁴therefore you will not devour human beings again, and you will not bereave your nations again — the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh.

¹⁵And I will not make you hear again the disgrace of the nations, and you will not bear the reproach of the peoples again, and you will not make your nations stumble again — the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh.

¹⁶The word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

¹⁷Son of man, the house of Israel were dwelling on their own ground and defiled it by their way and by their deeds; like the uncleanness of menstruation, their way was before my face.

¹⁸I poured out my burning anger on them for the blood that they had poured out on the land, and with their idols they defiled it.

¹⁹I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed among the lands; according to their way and according to their deeds I judged them.

²⁰And they came to the nations where they had gone, and they profaned my holy name, as people said of them, These are the people of Yahweh, and from his land they went out.

²¹And I had pity on my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they had gone.

²²Therefore say to the house of Israel, Like this the Adonai Yahweh says: Not for your sake am I acting, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you profaned among the nations where you went.

²³And I will set apart my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you profaned in their midst; and the nations will know that I am Yahweh — the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh — when I show myself set apart through you before their eyes.

²⁴And I will take you from the nations, and I will gather you from all the lands, and I will bring you to your own ground.

²⁵I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; from all your uncleanness and from all your idols I will cleanse you.

²⁶And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new breath inside you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh.

²⁷And I will put my breath inside you, and I will bring about that you will walk in my statutes, and you will keep my justice and do it.

²⁸And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you will be a people to me, and I will be God to you.

²⁹And I will save you from all your uncleanness; and I will call to the grain and multiply it, and I will not lay famine on you.

³⁰And I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, so that you will not take the reproach of famine among the nations again.

³¹And you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds which were not good, and you will loathe self in your face over your guilt and over your abominations.

³²Not for your sake am I acting — the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh — let it be known to you. Be ashamed and be humiliated because of your ways, house of Israel.

³³Like this said the Adonai Yahweh: In the day of my cleansing you from all your guilt, I will dwell the cities, and the ruins were built.

³⁴And the land that was desolated will be tilled, instead of its being a wasteland in the eyes of everyone who passes by.

³⁵And they will say, This land, the desolated has become like the garden of Eden; and the cities, the ruined and desolated and torn down, are fortified and dwelt in.

³⁶And the nations that remain around you will know that I, Yahweh, have built what was torn down and have planted what was desolated. I, Yahweh, have spoken, and I will do it.

³⁷Like this the Adonai Yahweh says: Again, in this I will let myself be sought by the house of Israel, to act for them: I will multiply them like a flock of human beings.

³⁸Like a flock of sacred things, like the flock of Jerusalem at her appointed times, so the ruined cities will be full of flocks of human beings; and they will know that I am Yahweh.
