¹The word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

²Son of the man, prophesy, and say: Like this said Adonai Yahweh: Wail: Alas for the day!

³For the day is near, and the day is near to Yahweh; a day of cloud, a time of the nations it will be.

⁴And a sword will come upon Egypt, and there will be anguish in Cush, when the slain fall in Egypt; and they will take away her multitude, and her foundations will be torn down.

⁵Cush and Put and Lud, and all the mixed company, and Kub, and the children of the land of the covenant, with them, by the sword they will fall.

⁶Like this said Yahweh: Those who uphold Egypt will fall, and the majesty of her strength will come down; from Migdol to Syene, by the sword they will fall in her, the utterance of Adonai Yahweh.

⁷And they will be desolate in the middle of desolated lands, and its cities will be in the middle of parched cities.

⁸And they will know that I am Yahweh, when I set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers are broken.

⁹On that day messengers will go out from my face in ships to make Cush tremble in its security; and anguish will be on them on the day of Egypt, for behold, it is coming.

¹⁰Like this said Adonai Yahweh: I will put an end to the multitude of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

¹¹He and his people with him, the ruthless of the nations, are brought in to ruin the land; they will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.

¹²I will set the channels as dry ground, and I will sell the land into the hand of evil men; I will devastate the land and all that fills it, by the hand of strangers. I, Yahweh, have spoken.

¹³Thus says the Adonai Yahweh: I will destroy the idols, and I will make cease the worthless idols from Memphis, and there will be no prince from the land of Egypt any more. I will set fear in the land of Egypt.

¹⁴I will devastate Pathros, and I will set fire in Zoan, and I will carry out judgments on Thebes.

¹⁵I will pour out my rage on Sin, the stronghold of Egypt, and I will cut off the crowd of Thebes.

¹⁶I will set fire in Egypt; Sin will surely writhe in agony, and Thebes will be broken into, and Memphis will have foes by day.

¹⁷The young men of On and Pi-Beseth will fall by the sword, and they themselves will go into captivity.

¹⁸And in Tahpanhes the day will be withheld, when I break there the yoke-bars of Egypt, and the majesty of her strength will cease in her; as for her, a cloud will cover her, and her daughters will go into captivity.

¹⁹I will carry out judgments on Egypt, and they will know that I am Yahweh.

²⁰And it happened in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

²¹Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and look, it has not been bound up, so as to give remedies, to put a bandage on it to bind it up, to make it strong enough to grasp the sword.

²²Therefore, thus says the Adonai Yahweh: Look, I am against Pharaoh, king of Egypt; I will break his arms, the strong one, and the broken one; and I will make fall the sword from his hand.

²³And I will scatter Egypt among the nations, and I will disperse them among the lands.

²⁴And I will make strong the arms of the king of Babylon and set my sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan the groans of one fatally wounded before him.

²⁵And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, while the arms of Pharaoh will fall; and they will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my sword in the hand of the king of Babylon, and he stretches out it against the land of Egypt.

²⁶And I will scatter Egypt among the nations and I will disperse them among the lands, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
