¹In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

²Son of the man, set your face against Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.

³Speak, and say: Like this said Adonai Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great sea monster that crouches in the middle of his channels, who said, My channel is mine, and I made myself.

⁴I will set hooks in your cheeks, and I will make the fish of your channels cling to your scales; and I will bring you up from the middle of your channels; and all the fish of your channels will cling to your scales.

⁵I will abandon you to the wilderness, you and all the fish of your channels; on the face of the field you will fall; you will not be gathered, and you will not be collected; to the beasts of the land and to the birds of the skies, I have given you as food.

⁶And all who dwell in Egypt will know that I am Yahweh, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

⁷When they seize you in the palm, you are crushed, and you rip open every shoulder of theirs; and when they lean on you, you are broken, and you make all their loins totter.

⁸Therefore, like this said Adonai Yahweh: Behold, I am bringing a sword upon you, and I will cut off from you man and livestock.

⁹And the land of Egypt will become a wasteland and ruins; and they will know that I am Yahweh, because he said, The River is mine, and I made it.

¹⁰Therefore, behold, I am against you and against your channels, and I will make the land of Egypt into ruins of drought, a wasteland, from Migdol to Syene, and as far as the border of Cush.

¹¹No foot of man will pass through it, and no foot of livestock will pass through it, and it will not be dwelt in for forty years.

¹²And I will make the land of Egypt a wasteland in the middle of desolated lands, and her cities in the middle of parched cities will be a wasteland for forty years; and I will scatter Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands.

¹³For like this said Adonai Yahweh: After forty years, I will gather together Egypt from the peoples where they were scattered.

¹⁴And I will turn back the captivity of Egypt, and I will bring them back to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin; and there they will be a lowly kingdom.

¹⁵It will be the lowliest of the kingdoms, and it will not lift itself up again over the nations; and I will make them small, so that they will not rule over the nations.

¹⁶And it will no longer be a security for the house of Israel, bringing guilt to remembrance, when they turn after them; and they will know that I am Adonai Yahweh.

¹⁷In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

¹⁸Son of the man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor a great labor against Tyre; every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare; yet there were no wages for him and for his army from Tyre for the labor that he had labored against it.

¹⁹Therefore, like this said Adonai Yahweh: Behold, I am giving the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he will carry off her wealth, and he will plunder her plunder, and take spoil of her spoil; and it will be wages for his army.

²⁰His wages, for which he labored, I have given him the land of Egypt, because they acted for me, the utterance of Adonai Yahweh.

²¹In that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and to you I will give the opening of the mouth in their midst; and they will know that I am Yahweh.
