The word of Yahweh was to me, saying:
Son of the man, say to the ruler of Tyre: Like this said Adonai Yahweh: Because your heart has been haughty, and you said, I am God, I have dwelled in the dwelling-place of God, in the heart of the seas — yet you are a man and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God.
Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; no secret is kept dark from you.
By your wisdom and by your understanding you acquired wealth for yourself, and you acquired gold and silver in your treasuries.
In the multitude of your wisdom, in your merchandise you multiplied your wealth, and your heart was haughty in your wealth.
Therefore, like this said Adonai Yahweh: Because you set your heart as the heart of God,
Therefore behold, I am bringing foreigners upon you, the ruthless of the nations; they will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and profane your brightness.
To the pit they will bring you down, and you will die the deaths of the slain in the heart of the seas.
Will you surely say, I am God, before the face of your killer? Yet you are a man and not God in the hand of those who pierce you.
You will die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of foreigners; for I have spoken, the utterance of Adonai Yahweh.
The word of Yahweh was to me, saying:
Son of the man, lift up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him: Like this said Adonai Yahweh: You are a sealer of measure, full of wisdom and complete in splendor.
In Eden, the garden of God, you were; every rare stone was your covering — ruby, topaz, and diamond, chrysolite, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald; and gold, the work of your tambourines and your settings, was in you; in the day you were created, they were established.
You were a cherub, outspread, the one who covers; and I set you on the holy mountain of God; you were in the middle of the stones of fire, you walked about.
Blameless were you in your ways from the day you were created, until injustice was found in you.
In the multitude of your merchandise your middle was filled with violence, and you sinned; so I profaned you from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O cherub who covers, from the middle of the stones of fire.
Your heart was haughty in your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom over your brightness; upon the land I threw you, before the face of kings I set you, to look at you.
From the multitude of your guilt, in the injustice of your merchandise you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought out fire from your middle, it consumed you, and I set you to ashes on the land, to the eyes of all those who saw you.
All those who knew you among the peoples were appalled over you; you became terrors, and you are no more, forever.
The word of Yahweh was to me, saying:
Son of the man, put your face to Sidon, and prophesy against it.
And say: Like this said Adonai Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, O Sidon, and I will be honored in your middle; and they will know that I am Yahweh when I carry out judgments in it; and I will be set apart in it.
I will send into it a pestilence, and blood in its streets, and the slain will fall in its middle by the sword against it from round about; and they will know that I am Yahweh.
And there will be no more for the house of Israel a brier that pricks and a thorn that causes pain, from all round about them, those who despise them; and they will know that I am Adonai Yahweh.
Like this said Adonai Yahweh: When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they were scattered; I will be set apart among them before the eyes of the nations; and they will dwell on their ground which I gave to my slave, to Jacob.
And they will dwell on it in security, and they will build houses, and they will plant vineyards, and they will dwell in security when I carry out judgments on all those who despise them from round about them; and they will know that I am Yahweh their God.
