The word of Yahweh was to me, saying:
And you, son of man, lift up over Tyre a lamentation.
And say to Tyre, who dwells at the gateways of the sea, trader of the peoples to many coastlands: Thus says Adonai Yahweh: O Tyre, you have said, I am perfect in splendor.
Your boundaries are in the heart of the seas; your builders have perfected your splendor.
From Senir cypress they built all the planks for you; they took cedar from Lebanon to make a mast over you.
They made your oars from Bashan oaks; your boards they made of ivory, the daughter of boxwoods, from the coastlands of Kittim.
Fine linen with embroidery from Egypt was your sail, to be a banner for you; violet and purple from the coastlands of Elishah was your covering.
The dwellers of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers; your wise ones, O Tyre, were in you; they were your sailors.
The elders of Gebal and her wise ones were in you, repairing your breaches; all the ships of the sea and their mariners were in you, to exchange your merchandise.
Persia and Lud and Put were in your army, the men of your war; shield and helmet they hung up in you; they themselves set your ornament.
The sons of Arvad and Helech were on your walls all around, and the Gammadites in your towers; they hung up their shields on your walls all around; they themselves perfected your splendor.
Tarshish was your trader from the abundance of all wealth; for silver, iron, tin, and lead they gave your wares.
Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were your traders; for human beings and vessels of bronze they gave your merchandise.
From the house of Togarmah they gave horses, horsemen, and mules as your wares.
The sons of Dedan were your traders; many coastlands were the trade of your hand; horns of ivory and ebony they brought back as your gift.
Aram was your trader from the abundance of your works; for turquoise, purple, embroidery, fine linen, corals, and rubies they gave for your wares.
Judah and the land of Israel, they were your traders; for wheat of Minnith, confections, honey, oil, and balm they gave your merchandise.
Damascus was your trader in the abundance of your works, from the abundance of all wealth; in the wine of Helbon and the wool of Zahar.
Vedan and Javan from Uzal gave polished iron for your wares; cassia and reed were in your merchandise.
Dedan was your trader in garments of saddlecloth for riding.
Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, they were the traders of your hand; in lambs and rams and goats, in these were your traders.
The traders of Sheba and Raamah, they were your traders; for the chief of all spice, and for every precious stone, and gold, they gave your wares.
Haran and Canneh and Eden, the traders of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were your traders.
They were your traders in gorgeous garments, in cloaks of violet and embroidery, and in treasure chests of variegated cloth, in ropes bound and made firm, in your marketplace.
The ships of Tarshish were your travelers in your merchandise; you were filled, and you grew heavy exceedingly in the heart of the seas.
The rowers brought you into great waters; the east wind broke you in the heart of the seas.
Your wealth, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners, and your sailors, those who repair your breaches and those who exchange your merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, and all your assembly who are in your midst, will fall in the heart of the seas on the day of your ruin.
At the sound of the outcry of your sailors the open lands will shake.
And all who wield an oar will come down from their ships, the mariners and all the sailors of the sea; they will stand on the land.
They will make their voice heard over you, and cry out bitterly; they will bring up dust over their heads and roll in the ashes.
They will make baldness for you and gird themselves with sackcloth; they will weep over you in bitterness of being, a bitter lament.
And in their wailing they will lift up a lamentation over you, and chant over you: Who is like Tyre, like the destroyed one in the middle of the sea?
When your wares went out from the seas, you satisfied great peoples; with the multitude of your wealth and your merchandise you enriched the kings of the land.
Now you are broken by the seas, in the depths of the waters; your merchandise and all your company in your middle have fallen.
All the dwellers of the coastlands were appalled over you, and their kings shuddered in a storm of terror; their faces thundered.
Traders among the peoples have hissed over you; you have become terrors, and you are no more, forever.
