¹The word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

²Son of the man, there were two women, daughters of one mother.

³They prostituted themselves in Egypt; in their youth they prostituted themselves. There their breasts were squeezed, and there they pressed the nipples of their virginity.

⁴And their names: Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister. They became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And their names: Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem is Oholibah.

⁵And Oholah prostituted herself while under me, and she lusted after her lovers, after Assyria, who were near,

⁶clothed in violet, governors and prefects, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding horses.

⁷She set her prostitutions upon them, the choicest of the sons of Assyria, all of them; and with all those whom she lusted after, with all their idols she defiled herself.

⁸And she did not forsake her prostitutions from Egypt, for they had lain with her in her youth, and they had pressed the nipples of her virginity and poured out their prostitution on her.

⁹Therefore I gave her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the sons of Assyria, whom she lusted after.

¹⁰They uncovered her nakedness; her sons and her daughters they took; and her they killed with the sword. She became a name among the women, and they carried out judgments on her.

¹¹And her sister Oholibah saw, and she corrupted her lust more than hers, and her prostitutions more than the whoredoms of her sister.

¹²She lusted after the sons of Assyria: governors and prefects, those near, clothed splendidly, horsemen riding horses, all of them desirable young men.

¹³And I saw that she had defiled herself; both of them had one way.

¹⁴And she added to her prostitutions. She saw carved men on the wall, images of the Chaldeans engraved in vermilion,

¹⁵girded with belts on their loins, with overhanging turbans on their heads, all of them having the appearance of officers, the likeness of the sons of Babylon, Chaldea, the land of their birth.

¹⁶She lusted after them at the sight of her eyes, and she sent messengers to them, to Chaldea.

¹⁷And the sons of Babylon came to her to the bed of love, and defiled her with their prostitution; and she was defiled by them, and her being was torn away from them.

¹⁸And she uncovered her prostitutions and uncovered her nakedness, and my being was torn away from her, just as my being had been severed from her sister.

¹⁹And she multiplied her prostitutions, remembering the days of her youth, when she prostituted herself in the land of Egypt.

²⁰And she lusted after their paramours, whose flesh is the flesh of donkeys, and whose emission is the emission of horses.

²¹And you sought out the depravity of your youth, when those from Egypt dealt with your breasts, for the sake of the breasts of your youth.

²²Therefore, O Oholibah, like this says Adonai Yahweh: Look, I am rousing your lovers against you, those from whom your being turned away, and I will bring them against you from all around:

²³the sons of Babylon and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, all the sons of Assyria with them, choice young men, governors and prefects, all of them, officers and those summoned, riders of horses, all of them.

²⁴And they will come against you with weapons of war, chariot and wheel, and with a company of peoples; great shield and buckler and helmet they will set against you all around. And I will set justice before them, and they will judge you by their justice.

²⁵And I will set my jealousy against you, and they will deal with you in rage: your nose and your ears they will remove, and your latter end will fall by the sword. They themselves will take your sons and your daughters, and your latter end will be consumed by fire.

²⁶And they will strip you of your garments, and they will take away the articles of your splendor.

²⁷And I will make cease your depravity from you, and your unfaithfulness from the land of Egypt; and you will not lift up your eyes to them, and Egypt you will not remember again.

²⁸For like this says Adonai Yahweh: Look, I am giving you into the hand of those you hate, into the hand of those from whom your being turned away.

²⁹And they will deal with you in hatred and take all your toil, and leave you naked and bare; and the nakedness of your whoredoms will be uncovered, along with your depravity and your prostitutions.

³⁰These things are done to you for your prostituting after the nations, because you made yourself unclean with their idols.

³¹You walked in the way of your sister, and I will put her cup into your hand.

³²Like this says Adonai Yahweh: The cup of your sister you will drink, deep and wide; it will become laughter and mockery, holding so much.

³³With drunkenness and sorrow you will be filled, a cup of desolation and wasteland, the cup of your sister Samaria.

³⁴And you will drink it and drain it, and its potsherds you will crunch, and your breasts you will tear out. For I have spoken, the utterance of Adonai Yahweh.

³⁵Therefore like this says Adonai Yahweh: Because you forgot me and you threw me behind your back, so also you, bear your depravity and your prostitutions.

³⁶And Yahweh said to me: Son of the man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.

³⁷For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands; with their idols they have committed adultery, and also their sons, whom they bore to me, they caused to pass over to them for food.

³⁸Again, this they have done to me: they have made unclean my sanctuary on that day, and my sabbaths they have profaned.

³⁹And when they had slaughtered their sons to their idols, they went into my sanctuary on that day to profane it; and look, this is what they did in the middle of my house.

⁴⁰And what is more, they sent for men coming from far away, to whom a messenger was sent; and look, they came, for whom you bathed, painted your eyes, and decked yourself with ornament.

⁴¹And you sat on a splendid couch, with a table arranged before it; and my incense and my oil you put on it.

⁴²And the sound of a crowd at ease was in her; and in addition to men from the multitude of humankind, Sabeans were brought from the wilderness, and they put bracelets on their hands and a crown of splendor on their heads.

⁴³And I said of her who was worn out with adulteries: Now will they prostitute her prostitutions, even she?

⁴⁴And one went in to her as one goes in to a woman who prostitutes; so they went in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the women of depravity.

⁴⁵And righteous men, they will judge them with the justice of adulteresses, and with the justice of women who pour out blood; for they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.

⁴⁶For like this says Adonai Yahweh: Bring up a company against them, and give them over to horror and plunder.

⁴⁷And the company will stone them with stones, and cut them down with their swords; their sons and their daughters they will kill, and their houses they will burn with fire.

⁴⁸And I will make cease depravity from the land, and all the women will be disciplined, and will not do like your depravity.

⁴⁹And they will set your depravity upon you, and you will bear the sins of your idols; and you will know that I am Adonai Yahweh.
