And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying, and say to the prophets who prophesy out of their own heart, 'Hear the word of Yahweh!'
This is what the Adonai Yahweh says: Woe to the foolish prophets who walk after their own breath, and have seen nothing.
Your prophets, Israel, have been like foxes among ruins.
You have not gone up into the breaches, nor built a wall for the house of Israel, to stand in battle on the day of Yahweh.
They saw vanity and lying divination, those who say, The utterance of Yahweh, when Yahweh had not sent them; and they waited for the word to be confirmed.
Was it not a vision of vanity that you saw, and a lying divination that you uttered, when you say, The utterance of Yahweh, and I, I did not speak?
Therefore, like this says the Adonai Yahweh: Because you speak vanity and see a lie, therefore, behold, I am against you, the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh.
My hand will be against the prophets who see vanity and who divine a lie; in the council of my people they will not be, and in the register of the house of Israel they will not be written, and into the ground of Israel they will not come; and you will know that I am the Adonai Yahweh.
Because, yes, because they led my people astray, saying, Wholeness, when there is no wholeness; and he is building a wall, and behold, they are plastering it with whitewash.
Say to those who plaster with whitewash that it will fall: there will be a rinsing rain, and you, stones of hail, will fall, and a wind of tempests will break through.
And behold, the wall has fallen. Will it not be said to you, Where is the plaster that you plastered?
Therefore, like this says the Adonai Yahweh: I will break open a wind of tempests in my rage, and a rinsing rain will come in my anger, and stones of hail in rage, for complete destruction.
I will tear down the wall that you plastered with whitewash, and make it touch the land, and its base will be uncovered; and it will fall, and you will come to an end in the midst of it; and you will know that I am Yahweh.
I will complete my rage on the wall and on those who plaster it with whitewash, and I will say to you, There is no wall, and there are none who plastered it,
the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see for it a vision of wholeness, when there is no wholeness, the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh.
And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own heart, and prophesy against them.
And you will say, Like this says the Adonai Yahweh: Woe to the women who sew bands on all the joints of my hands, and who make the long veils for the head of every height, to hunt the living! Will you hunt the living of my people, and keep alive the living for yourselves?
You have profaned me before my people for handfuls of barley and for morsels of bread, to put to death living ones who were not to die, and to keep alive living ones who were not to live, by your lying to my people who listen to a lie.
Therefore, like this says the Adonai Yahweh: Behold, I am against your bands, with which you hunt there the living, as flying things; and I will tear them away from your arms, and I will set free the living whom you hunt, the living, as flying things.
And I will tear your long veils, and I will deliver my people from your hand, and they will not be any more in your hand as prey; and you will know that I am Yahweh.
Because you disheartened the heart of the righteous with falsehood, though I did not cause him pain, and strengthened the hands of the wicked so that he would not turn back from his evil way, to keep him alive;
Therefore you will not see vanity, and you will not divine divination again; and I will deliver my people from your hand, and you will know that I am Yahweh.
