Ezekiel1

It was in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, while I was in the midst of the exiles by the river Kebar, that the skies were opened and I saw visions of God.

On the fifth day of the month — it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin —

the word of Yahweh was to Ezekiel the son of Buzi the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river of Kebar; and there the hand of Yahweh was over him.

And I saw, and behold, a wind of the whirlwind came from the north, a great cloud, and fire took, and brightness to it round about, and from her middle as the eye of the gleaming, from the middle of the fire.

And from its middle came the likeness of four living creatures; and this was their look: they had the likeness of a human.

Each one of them had four faces, and each had four wings.

Their feet were straight feet, and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot, and they sparkled like the eye of burnished bronze.

And human hands were under their wings on their four sides; and the faces and wings belonged to all four of them.

Their wings were joined, each to its sister; they did not turn when they went; each went toward the side its face was on.

As for the likeness of their faces: the face of a human, and the face of a lion on the right for all four of them, and the face of an ox on the left for all four of them, and the face of an eagle for all four of them.

Their faces and their wings were parted above; each had two that joined one to the other, and two that covered their bodies.

Each went toward the side of its face; to where the breath was to go there, they went, and they did not turn when they went.

And the pattern of the living creatures, their look as coals of fire burned, as the look of torches: she went between the living creatures, and brightness to the fire, and from the fire went forth lightning.

And the living creatures darted and returned, like the look of a lightning flash.

I saw the living creatures, and behold, there was one wheel on the land beside the living creatures, by its four faces.

The look of the wheels and their work was like the eye of chrysolite; and the four of them had one likeness; and their look and their work were just as a wheel would be in the middle of a wheel.

When they went, they went on their four sides; they did not turn when they went.

As for their rims, they were high; and they were a terror; and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around.

When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the land, the wheels were lifted up.

Wherever the breath was to go there, they went; in that direction the breath was to go; and the wheels were lifted up close beside them, for the breath of the living creature was in the wheels.

When they went, they went; and when they stood, they stood; and when they were lifted up from the land, the wheels were lifted up close beside them, for the breath of the living creature was in the wheels.

Over the heads of the living creature was a likeness: an expanse, like the eye of awesome ice, stretched out over their heads, from above.

And under the expanse their wings were straight, each toward its sister; and each had two covering for them, and each had two covering for them, their bodies.

I heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of great waters, like the sound of the Almighty, when they went; a sound of a roar like the sound of a camp; when they stood still, they dropped their wings.

And there was a sound from above the expanse that was over their heads; when they stood still, they dropped their wings.

And above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, like the look of sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness like the look of a human upon it, above.

I saw what was like the eye of gleaming metal, like the look of fire, with a housing all around it, from the look of his loins and upward; and from the look of his loins downward I saw what was like the look of fire, with brightness around him.

Like the look of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of the rain, so was the look of the brightness all around. That was the look of the likeness of the weightiness of Yahweh. I saw it, and I fell on my face, and I heard a voice speaking.
