Exodus8

Yahweh said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what Yahweh says: Let my people go, so that they may serve me.

But if you refuse to let them go, look, I am about to strike all your territory with frogs.

The Channel will swarm with frogs, and they will come up and come into your house and into your bedchamber and onto your bed, and into the house of your slaves and among your people, and into your fire-pots and into your kneading-troughs.

And the frogs will come up on you and on your people and on all your slaves.'"

Yahweh said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the channels, and over the pools, and make the frogs come up over the land of Egypt.'"

So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

But the magicians did the same by their secret arts, and they made the frogs come up over the land of Egypt.

Pharaoh called to Moses and to Aaron and said, "Pray to Yahweh that he may remove the frogs from me and from my people, and I will let the people go, and they may sacrifice to Yahweh."

Moses said to Pharaoh, "Take the honor over me: for when shall I pray for you and for your slaves and for your people, to cut off the frogs from you and from your houses? Only in the Channel will they be left."

He said, "For tomorrow." He said, "According to your word, so that you may know that there is none like Yahweh our God.

The frogs will be removed from you and from your houses and from your slaves and from your people; only in the Channel will they be left."

Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Moses cried to Yahweh about the word of the frogs that he had put on Pharaoh.

Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.

They piled up them heap upon heap, and the land stank.

But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he made his heart heavy and did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.

Yahweh said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the land, and it will become gnats in all the land of Egypt.'"

They did so: Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the land, and there were gnats on man and on livestock; all the dust of the land became gnats in all the land of Egypt.

So the magicians did the same by their secret arts to bring forth the gnats, but they were not able; and there were gnats on man and on livestock.

The magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God." But Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.

Yahweh said to Moses, "Rise early in the morning and stand before the face of Pharaoh as he goes forth to the waters, and say to him, 'This is what Yahweh says: Let my people go, so that they may serve me.

For if you are not letting my people go, look, I am about to send the swarm on you and on your slaves and on your people and into your houses; and the houses of the Egyptians will be full of the swarm, and also the ground on which they are.

And I will set apart on that day the land of Goshen, where my people stand, so that no swarm will be there, so that you may know that I am Yahweh in the midst of the land.

And I will put a distinction between my people and between your people; tomorrow this sign will come to be.'"

Yahweh did so, and a heavy swarm came into the house of Pharaoh and the house of his slaves, and in all the land of Egypt the land was ruined before the face of the swarm.

Pharaoh called to Moses and to Aaron and said, "Go, sacrifice to your God in the land."

Moses said, "It is not right to do so, for we would sacrifice the abomination of Egypt to Yahweh our God; look, if we sacrifice the abomination of Egypt before their eyes, will they not throw stones at us?

We will go a journey of three days into the wilderness, and we will sacrifice to Yahweh our God, as he will say to us."

Pharaoh said, "I will let you go, and you will sacrifice to Yahweh your God in the wilderness; only you must not go very far. Pray for me."

Moses said, "Look, I am going forth from you, and I will pray to Yahweh, and the swarm will be removed from Pharaoh, from his slaves, and from his people tomorrow; only let Pharaoh not go on mocking, by not letting the people go to sacrifice to Yahweh."

Moses went forth from Pharaoh and prayed to Yahweh.

Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and removed the swarm from Pharaoh, from his slaves, and from his people; not one was left.

But Pharaoh made his heart heavy also at this time, and did not let the people go.
