And Yahweh said to Moses, See, I have set you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet.
You will speak all that I command you, and Aaron your brother will speak to Pharaoh, so that he sends the children of Israel away from his land.
And I will stiffen the heart of Pharaoh, and I will multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
And Pharaoh will not listen to you, so I will set my hand on Egypt and I will bring out my hosts, my people the children of Israel from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.
And the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh, when I stretch out my hand over Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
And Moses and Aaron did so, just as Yahweh commanded them, so they did.
And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
And Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, Give a wonder for yourselves, then you will say to Aaron, Take your staff and throw it down before the face of Pharaoh; let it become a serpent.
And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did so, just as Yahweh had commanded; and Aaron threw down his staff before the face of Pharaoh and before the face of his slaves, and it became a serpent.
And Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; and they also, the diviners of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts.
Each one threw down his staff, and they became serpents, but Aaron's staff swallowed down their staffs.
And Pharaoh's heart hardened, and he did not listen to them, just as Yahweh had said.
And Yahweh said to Moses, Pharaoh's heart is heavy; he has refused to send away the people.
Go to Pharaoh in the morning — look, he is going out to the water — and take your stand to meet him on the edge of the Channel; and the staff that turned into a snake you will take in your hand.
And say to him, Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, Send away my people, that they may serve me in the wilderness; and look, until now you have not listened.
Thus says Yahweh: By this you will know that I am Yahweh: look, I am about to strike with the staff that is in my hand upon the waters that are in the Channel, and they will be turned to blood.
And the fish that are in the Channel will die, and the Channel will stink, and the Egyptians will be weary of drinking water from the Channel.
And Yahweh said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt — over their rivers, over their channels, over their pools, and over every gathering of their waters — so that they become blood; and there will be blood in all the land of Egypt, even in wood and in stone.
And Moses and Aaron did so, just as Yahweh had commanded; he lifted high the staff and struck the waters that were in the Channel before the eyes of Pharaoh and before the eyes of his slaves, and all the waters that were in the Channel were turned to blood.
And the fish that were in the Channel died, and the Channel stank, and the Egyptians could not drink water from the Channel; and there was blood in all the land of Egypt.
And the diviners of Egypt did the same with their secret arts; and Pharaoh's heart hardened, and he did not listen to them, just as Yahweh had said.
And Pharaoh turned and went into his house; he did not even set his heart to this.
And all the Egyptians dug around the Channel for water to drink, for they could not drink from the water of the Channel.
And seven days were filled, after Yahweh struck the Channel.
