Exodus21

And these are the justices that you shall set before them:

When you acquire a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing.

If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he is the husband of a wife, then his wife shall go out with him.

If his lord gives him a wife, and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall belong to her lord, and he shall go out by himself.

But if the slave plainly says, I love my lord, my wife, and my sons, I will not go out free,

then his lord shall bring him to God, and bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his lord shall pierce his ear with the awl, and he shall serve him forever.

And when a man sells his daughter as a maidservant, she shall not go out as the slaves go out.

If she is displeasing in the eyes of her lord, who had designated her for himself, then he shall let her be ransomed; he shall not have dominion to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt treacherously with her.

And if he designates her for his son, he shall do for her according to the custom of daughters.

If he takes another woman for himself, he shall not diminish her food, her covering, or her cohabitation.

And if he does not do these three things for her, then she shall go out for nothing, with no silver.

Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.

But the one who was not lying in wait, and God let it meet his hand, I will set for you a place where he may flee.

And when a man acts presumptuously against his neighbor, to kill him with cunning, you shall take him from beside my altar, to die.

And whoever strikes his father and his mother shall surely be put to death.

And whoever steals a man and sells him, or he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death.

And whoever curses his father and his mother shall surely be put to death.

And when men quarrel and a man strikes his neighbor with a stone or with a fist, and he does not die but falls into bed,

If he gets up and walks about outside on his staff, then the one who struck him is free of guilt; only he will pay for his ceasing from work, and will surely have him healed.

And when a man strikes his male slave or his female slave with the rod, and he dies under his hand, he will surely be avenged.

Only if he remains standing a day or two days, he will not be avenged; for he is his silver.

And when men fight and strike a pregnant woman and her children come out, and there is no harm, he will surely be fined, as the woman's husband imposes on him, and he will give it through the judges.

And if harm happens, then you will give a being in place of a being,

eye in place of eye, tooth in place of tooth, hand in place of hand, foot in place of foot,

burning in place of burning, wound in place of wound, bruise in place of bruise.

And when a man strikes the eye of his male slave or the eye of his female slave and ruins it, he will let him go free in place of his eye.

And if he knocks out the tooth of his male slave or the tooth of his female slave, he will let him go free in place of his tooth.

And when an ox gores a man or a woman and he dies, the ox will surely be stoned, and its flesh will not be eaten; but the owner of the ox is free of guilt.

But if the ox is prone to gore from yesterday and the day before, and its owner has been warned but does not guard it, and it kills a man or a woman, the ox will be stoned, and also its owner will be put to death.

If a ransom is imposed on him, then he will give the ransom of his being according to all that is imposed on him.

Or if it gores a son, or if it gores a daughter, it will be done to him in this manner.

If the ox gores a male slave or a female slave, he will give thirty shekels of silver to his lord, and the ox will be stoned.

And when a man opens a pit, or when a man digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls in there,

The owner of the pit will repay; he will give back silver to its owner, and the dead animal will be his.

And when the ox of a man strikes the ox of his neighbor and it dies, they will sell the living ox and divide its silver, and also they will divide the dead one.

Or if it is known that the ox is prone to gore from yesterday and the day before, and its owner has not guarded it, he will surely repay an ox in place of the ox, and the dead one will be his.
