Yahweh said to Moses, "One more plague I will bring on Pharaoh and on Egypt; after that he will let you go from here. When he lets you go completely, he will surely drive you out from here.
Speak, please, in the ears of the people: let each man ask his neighbor and each woman her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold."
Yahweh gave the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. Also the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of the slaves of Pharaoh and in the eyes of the people.
Moses said, "This is what Yahweh says: About the middle of the night I am going out into the midst of Egypt.
And every firstborn in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the female slave who is behind the millstones, and every firstborn of the livestock.
And there will be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as has never been, and such as will never be repeated.
But against any of the children of Israel not even a dog will sharpen its tongue, from man to livestock, so that you may know that Yahweh makes a separation between Egypt and Israel.
And all these slaves of yours will come down to me and bow down to me, saying, 'Go out, you and all the people who are at your feet,' and after that I will go out." And he went out from Pharaoh in burning anger.
Yahweh said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that my wonders may multiply in the land of Egypt."
Moses and Aaron made all these wonders before the face of Pharaoh; but Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not let the children of Israel go from his land.
