When Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you are about to go, to take possession of it, and clears away many nations from your face, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations, great and mightier than you,
and Yahweh your God gives them over before your face, and you strike them down, you must surely ban them; you shall not cut a covenant with them; and you shall not show favor to them.
And you will not intermarry with them; your daughter you will not give to his son, and his daughter you will not take for your son.
For he will turn aside your son from following me, and they will serve other gods; and the anger of Yahweh will burn against you, and he will wipe you out quickly.
But this is what you will do to them: their altars you will pull down, and their pillars you will shatter, and their Asherah poles you will cut down, and their idols you will burn in the fire.
For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God; Yahweh your God has chosen you to become his own treasured people from among all the peoples who are over the face of the ground.
It was not because you were more numerous than all the peoples that Yahweh set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all the peoples.
but it was from Yahweh's love of you, and from his keeping the oath which he swore to your fathers, that Yahweh brought you out with a strong hand and ransomed you from the house of slaves, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
And you will know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God, who keeps the covenant and the loyal love for those who love him and for those who keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
and he repays those who hate him to his face, by destroying them; he does not delay for the one who hates him; to his face he repays him.
You will keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the justices that I am commanding you today, to do them.
And it will be, because you hear these justices, and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep for you the covenant and the loyal love which he swore to your fathers.
He will love you and bless you and multiply you; he will bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your fresh oil, the offspring of your cattle and the young ones of your flock, on the ground which he swore to your fathers to give you.
Blessed you will be above all the peoples; there will not be a barren male or a barren female among you, or among your livestock.
And Yahweh will remove from you every sickness, and all the evil diseases of Egypt which you knew he will not put them on you, but he will set them on all who hate you.
And you will consume all the peoples that Yahweh your God is giving to you; your eye will not show pity on them, and you will not serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.
If you say in your heart, 'These nations are more numerous than I; how can I dispossess them?'
You will not be afraid of them; you will surely remember what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt,
the great trials which your eyes saw, and the signs and the wonders, and the strong hand and the outstretched arm by which Yahweh your God brought you out; so will Yahweh your God do to all the peoples whom you are afraid to face.
And also the hornet Yahweh your God will send among them, until those who are left and those who hide from your face have perished.
You will not be terrified of them, for Yahweh your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God.
And Yahweh your God will clear away these nations from before you little by little; you will not be able to make an end of them quickly, lest the animals of the field multiply against you.
And Yahweh your God will set them before you, and will confuse them with a great confusion, until they are wiped out.
And he will give their kings into your hand, and you will make their name perish from under the skies; no one will stand before you until you have wiped them out.
The idols of their gods you will burn in the fire; you will not desire the silver and gold on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.
And you will not bring an abomination into your house, lest you become a devoted thing like it; you will utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is a devoted thing.
