And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.
And he said to them: I am a hundred and twenty years old this day; I am no longer able to go out and come in, and Yahweh has said to me: You will not pass over this Jordan.
Yahweh your God, he is passing over before your face; he will wipe out these nations from before your face, and you will dispossess them. Joshua, he is passing over before your face, as Yahweh has spoken.
And Yahweh will do to them, as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when he wiped them out.
And Yahweh will give them over before your face, and you will do to them according to all the commandment that I have commanded you.
Be strong and be bold; do not be afraid and do not be terrified before their face, for Yahweh your God, he is the one who goes with you; he will not let you go, and he will not forsake you.
And Moses called Joshua and said to him before the eyes of all Israel: Be strong and bold, for you yourself will go with this people into the land that Yahweh swore to their fathers to give them, and you will give it to them as their possession.
And Yahweh, he it is who goes before your face; he will be with you, he will not let you go and will not forsake you. Do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed.
And Moses wrote down this instruction and gave it to the priests, the children of Levi, who carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and to all the elders of Israel.
And Moses commanded them, saying: At the end of seven years, at the appointed time of the year of release, at the festival of shelters,
when all Israel comes to appear before the face of Yahweh your God in the place that he will choose, you shall read aloud this instruction in front of all Israel, in their ears.
Assemble the people: the men and the women and the children, and your sojourner who is within your gates, so that they may hear and so that they may learn and fear Yahweh your God, and take care to do all the words of this instruction,
and their sons who have not known will hear and learn to fear Yahweh your God all the days that you are alive on the ground where you are crossing the Jordan, to take possession of it there.
And Yahweh said to Moses: Look, your days have drawn near to die. Summon Joshua, and take your stand in the tent of meeting, so that I may charge him. And Moses and Joshua went and took their stand in the tent of meeting.
And Yahweh appeared in the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood over the door of the tent.
And Yahweh said to Moses: Look, you are about to lie down with your fathers, and this people will rise up and play the prostitute after the foreign gods of the land into whose midst they are going, and they will forsake me and break my covenant that I cut with them.
And my nostril will burn against them on that day, and I will forsake them and hide my face from them, and they will be devoured, and many evils and distress will find them; and they will say on that day: Is it not because my God is not in my midst that these evils have found me?
And I, I will surely hide my face on that day because of all the evil that they have done, for they turned to other gods.
And now, write for yourselves this song, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, so that this song may be for me a witness against the children of Israel.
For I will bring them into the ground that I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they will eat and be satisfied and grow fat, and they will turn to other gods and serve them, and spurn me and break my covenant.
And it will be, when many evils and distress find them, this song will answer to their face as a witness, for it will not be forgotten from the mouth of their seed. For I know the inclination they are making today, before I bring them into the land that I swore.
And Moses wrote down this song on that day, and taught it to the children of Israel.
And he commanded Joshua son of Nun and said: Be strong and bold, for you will bring the children of Israel into the land that I swore to them, and I will be with you.
And it was, when Moses finished writing the words of this instruction on a scroll, until they were complete,
Moses commanded the Levites who carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, saying:
Take this scroll of instruction, and put it at the side of the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God, so that it will be there against you as a witness.
For I myself know your rebellion and your hard neck. Look, while I am still alive with you today, you have been rebellious against Yahweh; how much more, then, after my death!
Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, so that I may speak in their ears these words, and call as witnesses against them the skies and the land.
For I know that after my death you will surely act corruptly and turn aside from the way that I commanded you, and the evil will encounter you in the latter end of the days, because you will do the evil in the eyes of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger with the work of your hands.
And Moses spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were complete.
