Deuteronomy3

We turned and went up the road to Bashan, and Og the king of Bashan came out to meet us, he and all his people, for battle at Edrei.

Yahweh said to me, Do not fear him, for into your hand I have set him and all his people and his land; and you will do to him as you did to Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelled in Heshbon.

Yahweh our God set into our hand also Og the king of Bashan and all his people, and we struck him down until there was not left to him a survivor.

We captured all his cities at that time; there was not a town that we did not take from them: sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

All these were cities fortified with a high wall, doors, and a bar, apart from the cities of the hamlet-dwellers, very many.

We devoted them to destruction, just as we had done to Sihon the king of Heshbon, devoting to destruction every city: the men, the women, and the little ones.

And all the livestock and the plunder of the cities we plundered for ourselves.

We took the land at that time from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites, who were on the other side of the Jordan, from the wadi of Arnon as far as the mountain of Hermon.

The Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir.

All the cities of the plateau, and all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

For only Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. Look, his bed, a bed of iron, is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its breadth, by the cubit of a man.

And this land we occupied at that time, from Aroer, which is beside the wadi of Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with its cities, I gave to the Reubenite and to the Gadite.

And the rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Manasseh: all the measured region of Argob, even all Bashan, the one called the land of the Rephaim.

Jair son of Manasseh took all the measured region of Argob, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and he called them by his own name—Bashan, the Tent-villages of Jair—to this day.

And to Machir I gave Gilead.

And to the Reubenite and to the Gadite I gave from Gilead even to the wadi of Arnon, the middle of the wadi as a boundary, and even to the Jabbok, the wadi that is the boundary of the children of Ammon.

And the Desert Plain, and the Jordan and its boundary, from Kinnereth even to the sea of the Desert Plain, the sea of salt, below the slopes of Pisgah toward the sunrise.

I commanded you at that time, saying: Yahweh your God has given you this land to occupy it. Armed, you are to cross over before the face of your brothers, the children of Israel, all of you, sons of strength.

Only your wives, your children, and your livestock—I know that you have much livestock—shall dwell in your cities which I have given you,

until Yahweh gives rest to your brothers as to you, and they also take possession of the land which Yahweh your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan; then each man shall return to his possession which I have given you.

And Joshua I commanded at that time, saying: Your eyes are the ones that have seen all that Yahweh your God did to these two kings; so Yahweh will do to all the kingdoms into which you are about to pass over.

Do not be afraid of them, for Yahweh your God—he is the one who fights for you.

And I sought favor from Yahweh at that time, saying:

Adonai Yahweh, you have begun to let your slave see your greatness and your mighty hand; for who is God in the heavens and in the land who will make as your works and as your victories?

Let me pass over, please, and see the good land that is on the other side of the Jordan, this good hill country, and the Lebanon.

But Yahweh became furious with me on account of you, and did not listen to me; and Yahweh said to me: Enough for you! Do not go on speaking to me again about this word.

Go up to the head of Pisgah, lift up your eyes toward the sea and north and south and toward the sunrise, and see with your own eyes; for you will not pass over this Jordan.

Command Joshua, encourage him, and strengthen him; for he will pass over before the face of this people, and he will cause them to inherit the land which you will see.

So we dwelt in the valley in front of Beth-peor.
